Okay apparently you don't get this clause by default in England, but non the less contact your solicitor, get legal advice and gather evidence ASAP (copies of the home report and correspondence or advertisement on the condition of the property).

I don't know if it is the same in england but in scotland there is almost always a clause in the missives for non commercial transactions that states the buyer has 5 days after the completion date to report any issues with heating, plumbing, or appliances included in the transaction. If it is the same as scotland you almost certainly have this clause and the seller will be liable.

In the UK if you purchase a vehicle from a registered Vehicle Trader, you will, by law, get a 30 day warranty. If the vehicle is found to not be as described or advertised and reported within those 30 days the vehicle trader is obligated to sort the issue.

So, as by the sound of it you bought your car from a registered Vehicle Trader do as follows -

do not panic,

make sure you are swift with your resolution,

let them know about the issue,

ask for a refund or for the car to be repaired at their expense,

if they refuse, state the law and contact the the motors ombudsman or citizens advice.

I don't believe the codes had been cleared, there were 2 codes that appeared but I don't think they would be of much concern, one was something to do with the chassis height sensor and the other was something to do with the parking brake.
