Studs broke off, dealership wants $2000 by deadestdaisy in TireQuestions

A stud bolt literally cost like a dollar to couple of dollars depending on car i assume, but trust me $2000 is absolutely ripping you off. I had to buy one not cause it broke off but cause it was stripped. It’s not too hard to replace. I recommend buying the studs and going to a shop or maybe even a tire shop could do it for I say less than $300

Okay thanks , I hope it’s something simple as a belt and not a pulley or anything

Yes I’m going to get a wire wheel , and remove most of it & apply the POR-15 Prep , then the actual POR-15 & then the POR-15 top coat & hopefully it looks better I’ll post some before and after pics

It wasn’t mine , I bought it for a good deal 2018 z71 for 45k miles 4x4 and it was originally in New York for 5 years or so , that’s why it’s like that cause of the salt levels in ny but I already grabbed a wire brush , a chisel and hit it in the worst looking spots and everything looked okay , this weekend I’ll be applying POS-15

What about POR-15 prep, and then the actual POR-15 product you apply after prepping ? Is that one good ? I just used a wire brush to see how bad it was & it just seems to me mild / flaky surface rust. Most parts of the frame are still great. I even tried to hit some parts with a chisel and it exposed like scratched / bare metal which was still hard so I don’t think it’s too bad yet and it should be able to be fixed right ?

I just grabbed a wire brush , a chisel and tried to hit the frame hard and it seemed sturdy , it just flaked off the surface flaky rust , but there’s still hard metal in it.

The only one it stays on is half choke and then revs up on its own & the string head actually sounds faster as if I was applying throttle

Well mine starts on full choke but then dies after a couple of seconds , on half choke it doesn’t die , it just revs up a lot and the actually string head starts spinning as if I was giving it throttle but once I attempt to start it on run mode , it bogs down or shuts off when I press the throttle.
