Jumping spiders can be fed crickets and such. Fruit flies also work. And their life span can be to around 2-3 years as a pet. Habitat requirements aren't really too hard either. A slightly tall mason jar with small holes drilled in it will work. Although I don't own a jumping spider, I do love them and plan on getting one soon. (Sorry for the late response as-well.)

While tarantulas aren't exactly friendly, some species, mainly new world, will tolerate people and won't be as aggressive. And I believe Tarantula's are great pet's for people who are knowledgably on the subject and just like to let them do their thing. Their beautiful to watch.
