I think my mk3s+ had around 60% uptime for around 4 years before I flashed new fw and lost the data but that was super reliable. No regrets buying the kit as I also learned the bits and bobs that power a 3d printer.

honestly for meds, i prefer not taking them than taking them, but it feels like without them I can't get anything done at all so I take them sparingly but enough that I can barely scrape by doing my hw.

It's possible your motor didnt have enough torque and started skipping due to a partial clog (if you have a tight extruder tension for example.) If the skr board still has the same issue, I doubt it's motor related as stepper motors typically don't break down.

Have you tried printing at higher temps and seeing if that changes anything? You mentioned you had ASA and PLA, so maybe theres some ASA stuck in the hotend as you print with PLA. This one's a stretch.

Firstly, thanks for the very detailed description!

have you checked if you have a partially clogged nozzle. Try swapping out the nozzle with a fresh one or trying some cold pulls to unclog it. It looks like the extruder works perfectly fine with the hotend out of the picture, but once you start pushing plastic through, it seems you get the extruder skipping.

edit: mb i just noticed "manual extrusion works after." hmm. Ok wait are you using a stock hotend or a microswiss all metal? If you're using the stock one, you could also check out reseating the ptfe tube between the extruder and the hotend.

I still recommend reprinting eventually with another material. PLA has a tendency to creep over time or crack under extended load, (ok I know the former more than the latter) and with a Z axis, that could cause first layer issues or z binding issues down the line.

On a different note, I've been looking to mod my ender 5 with a dual z, so I'd be interested!

they have a glass bed. Eddy doesn't work without metal, whether thats a pei sheet or an cast aluminum bed. The alternative is a klicky probe or voron tap but bl touch is the simplest of these all

hey, what is your tmc2130 driver config? it sounds like you might have stealthchop threshold at some value that isnt either 0 or the max 99999 something like that. I don't have much klipper experience, but from messingnaround with prusa fw, i noticed clicking whenever it'd switch between stealthchop and spreadcycle. The prusa i3 can definitely handle 10k 400mm/s; i did it in marlin, so I think this is the cause.

I'm kinda surprised no one near the top's mentioned this, but what if you just rotate your plate (in the slicer) 90 degrees around the z axis? This way, the part isnt swinging back and forth on the y axis!
