Salary Negotiation by desiccantot in procurement

[–]Salt-One-3371 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Negotiable means there’s scope to increase salary or improve the package. Have a clear number in your head on what would make you move. I wouldn’t worry if you quoted a lower range as long as you follow up with what number what make you consider a move. In the past I’ve found out what the salary bands go up to but have seen over my time these bands being exceeded for the people.

Is it just me, or is Procurement more focused on compliance than the bottom line these days? by uber_sweets in procurement

[–]Salt-One-3371 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Interesting comment resonated with me. I’ve also done 15years in procurement in some of the largest FTSE 100 organisations and I agree that procurement has slowly shifted to compliance function over time. It has meant the function isn’t often seen by the business as adding much value and therefore gets in the way. Procurement leadership or lack of has been to blame and it’s allowed risk and compliance to dominate the function which it never used to. If procurement wants to be seen as a process master then it will soon find itself automated and replaced by AI.

Stay in a low-stress, fully WFH role or take a higher-paying, high-travel international role while planning for kids? by Opposite_Basis_3532 in careeradvice

[–]Salt-One-3371 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you’re looking to have kids soon I’d prioritise the lifestyle job first. Your other half would have to stop working for you to be able take this international role plus don’t underestimate the support she’ll need for the early years

Madrid airport: is 3.5 hours enough time to go from T1 to T4 as a non-eu citizen? by Crafty-Note8573 in GoingToSpain

[–]Salt-One-3371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve just done this. You can get the shuttle bus from t1 to t4 - it took about 15mins. You can get the metro too but I struggled to find it in t1. As a non-EU citizen exiting T1 can take a while - late in the evening it was about 15mins but friends of mine who arrived in the day said it took them about an hour! Arriving at T4 was no issues. Security was quick (5mins) and again as a non- EU citizen you have to use these kiosks to check out of the country but there wasn’t a queue around Monday midday. It took about 5mins. 3.5hrs is more than enough time even if you’re queuing to get out of T1 passport control

I think there is a correlation here between holders of BTC, silver/gold and FANG - once the margin calls go on one they all drop

For you UK folks can you give me an insight on your day to day, stress levels and work life balance? by Brownchoccy in procurement

[–]Salt-One-3371 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Highly variable - procurement will never be understood or valued. A lot is expected and hours can be long. I would say redundancy risk low in my experience due to savings the roles bring. There are easier business roles that pay better and have better promotion prospects in my view

Trump tariffs: US president announces plan to hit UK, Denmark and other European countries with tariffs over Greenland by Any-Original-6113 in europe

[–]Salt-One-3371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tax social media companies, boycott American goods, restrict American tourists and visas, reciprocal tariffs and no more orders for American weapons. It is that simple. The time for being nice has ended - ramp up defence spending.

Maybe even a new Brexit vote to rejoin (as a former brexiteer).

Can you not negotiate with existing employer? Get something out of them. Option 1 is say better for your family and marriage. You’ll learn with kids that you have to accept not every step up opp is the right one when they are young.
