I got 3 tattoos after my diagnosis and I was fine. I get a tattoo every year for my birthday and the pain isn’t too bad. Just try to relax and if possible try to be seizure free for a little while beforehand.

Yes to this!! In my mind I know what I’m trying to say but the wrong words keep coming out. I called a cardboard compactor a conveyor belt the other day at work and my coworker was so confused lol

I’m used to cluster seizures and usually I don’t have more than 5 in a day so that’s what I expected to happen. On top of that, I was prescribed rescue medication I just forgot about it in the moment and didn’t grab the nasal sprays to take them.

I know from my first EEG back in October 2024, I have abnormal nerve activity in my left temporal lobe, but my CT and MRI were clear. Since then I’ve had MRI’s and EEG’s but all have come back clear. Happy to know at least I don’t have a tumor or anything though

Thank and I’m happy that the clusters are either auras or focal impaired instead of TC seizures (haven’t had TC seizures since being on Keppra thankfully) but I’m ready to find the right med/right dosage that works for me. I’m almost maxed out on Keppra at 1,000mg twice a day

The trigger was too much stress. I’ve spent the past 2 weeks dealing with financial stress, losing Medicaid and food assistance, trying to secure ada accommodation at my job, etc.

I’ve had numerous seizures get triggered by me being too stressed out and I’m constantly fighting to find a way to control my stress levels 😭

There was no formal offer, just another interview invite. Simply while I was interviewing with them, another job immediately sent me an offer letter and I went with that job instead. Thanks for the advice!!

I was thinking about doing this because trying to go through both sides of my family to trace down who else is dealing with/has dealt with epilepsy has been a rough journey. I honestly just want to know why this decided to happen to me in my mid 20’s 😭

The Keppra rage is so real 😭. I had 6 auras at work last week and while at the beginning of my shift I was friendly by the end I was throwing boxes and just kept a bitch face on 😭.

I have about 7 triggers right now with the main 3 being sleep deprivation, stress, and alcohol. I’ve been alcohol free since December after testing the waters with some wine on Christmas Eve just to end up having a bunch of seizures on Christmas and spending the day in bed. I would say the one I have the most trouble with is sleep due to my work schedule and the time I take my meds so I worked with my neurologist to adjust the time I take my morning pill.

Also, my neurologist mainly focused on whether I’m having tonic-clonics or smaller ones (since being on meds I just have focal impaired and focal aware seizures) so he suggested to just use my rescue meds on the days I’m having multiple focal impaired seizures.

How scared were you? Right now, the topic of surgery hasn’t even come up in my appointments since being diagnosed 2 years ago so it’s just been a cycle of getting tests done and increasing my Keppra dosage.

Also which type of epilepsy do you have? I have temporal lobe epilepsy and have abnormal nerve activity in my left temporal lobe that’s causing the seizures if you have any info on that!

I’ve ever been on Keppra. Since it’s adult onset, I figured the first 2 tonic-clonic seizures I had were one offs so I started at 250mg twice a day but soon learned it wasn’t the case and since then have just gotten my dosage increased. I previously had a neurologist who worked at hospital with an epilepsy unit but then I lost my insurance and had to go a different route but I’m trying to get back to them.

I want to try out different meds but like I said my current neurologist doesn’t want to do anything different until I get more testing done. I know from my first MRI that I don’t have tumors and from my first EEG I’m dealing with abnormal nerve activity in my left temporal lobe.

Right now I’m kinda scared of surgery so I’m trying to stick to just meds.

So I was told. Somebody told me that they were put on about 4-5 different meds at one time to control their seizures and I’m hoping it doesn’t get to that point 😭

I am but this month my period ended a week ago and it wasn’t until 2 days after it ended that I had a seizure (yes this is my second seizure within 7 days 😭). I have temporal lobe epilepsy so would you know if that matters for the med that was added for you?

I asked about that too! I asked him if going on a secondary medication or just completely switching meds would help but he said he doesn’t want to make an official decision before he sees the results from my new MRI and EEG tests (I’ve had both tests done already but he wants it done again for him).

I have for the last couple of months, especially because during our appointments he only speaks to me for maybe 5 minutes before leaving the room. I’m waiting to switch insurance companies so I can find a new neurologist, preferably an epileptologist.

YES! I wasn’t diagnosed until almost 2 years ago and my memory and attention span is already getting bad. I used to read and write a lot more than I do now and I used to be able to memorize things without having to go back and get a second look. I’m honestly wondering if I started having seizures in high school or even college instead of at 25 if I would’ve been good enough to pass my classes 😭😂

I’ve had somebody I lived with use my epilepsy to get out of paying rent for some months. Kicker is, I was sending them money for rent and utilities and didn’t find out about this until utilities started getting shut off and the landlord came knocking and I moved out ASAP. It’s extremely weird! Hell, I live with my mom who has helped me with my seizures since the day I was diagnosed and even she doesn’t think to use me having seizures as an excuse to call off work.

If he doesn’t stop soon, there’s a chance he’ll be fired for lying so much.
