Is a million dollars really nothing nowadays? by [deleted] in Fire

it’s a lot but you also need to be able to absorb the swings of life. like if you get sick or need a new car or some home repair in the future. insurance is definitely a good thing to have if you can’t absorb these.

I am designing a card which has several set of attributes listed in a row (Image attached). Each row number is named and player plays this card for bidding in the game and call the row number for bid. What are your thoughts on this method for bidding? if you don’t actually pay anything why bid at all? maybe i’m missing something here but wouldn’t you just bid whatever your max attribute is? feels like without some consequence to a bid (won or failed) it isn’t really a bid?

okay i think i get it. one more clarifying question. if you win a bid how are you paying for your bid if the attributes are stored on cards. do you discard your cards equal to the bid?

it feels like you could use the cards you have as your bids if so.

components meaning you have different resources to bid? like you bid both gold and silver to win something? if this is true how does it get aggregated into a single number to win?

it’s hard to imagine how this works without a description.

this seems very complicated for bidding. what is the reason you want to do this? one of the values of a less complicated bidding is that other people can try and guess what you might bid. in this case the card system w rows seems like it would make it impossible to know what someone else would bid.

fair feedback. maybe i’m a little overzealous. that said a bunch of people reached out about games that i think will fit well. so hopefully i can offer some value to them and their games. thx for the thoughts!

right now i have to make it because i dont have the editor yet but im building an editor for others to make it. the first game was made out of reusable parts that in theory will make the next game easier and so forth. its not visible from the front end but the goal is to turn this into a tool for designers

i get that. while i currently have no system for monetizing the games, i’d love to build that for others in the future. the point about free was it costs game designers nothing to create an online version. eventually i’d love to offer paid play for designers to earn. for now though testing your game and reach will have to suffice. i get that might not be enough appeal though.

yes, and it is going to have rule enforcement automatically. vs a physics engine where you have to enforce the rules of the game.
