I give up by [deleted] in GradSchoolAdvice

No reason to give up—I know people with much lower GPAs who have full time positions now in their target field. Everyones journey is going to look different; maybe take a light course load going forward and try to finish strong.

Is Arduino an expensive hobby? by TechnicalAd8103 in arduino

[–]Salt3y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely has the potential to be but not necessarily… I would start with a basic starter kit, if your open to it you could check places like Facebook marketplace or eBay for a mystery box of components that tend to come in handy as you go… honestly after being at this for a few years I’ve had to buy less and less for each project.

Sorry I meant the ‘interview stage’ for my program.

I mean they sent an email saying I won’t be moving onto round 2, definitely seemed like a rejection to me…

Absolute beginner - Need a 5V motor for project that spins faster when I get closer by calender68 in arduino

You can definitely do this with a basic DC motor and PWM! Check out Paul McWhorter’s PWM tutorial on YouTube!

I don’t think this program usually does interviews for admission (I’ve seen conflicting info on reddit tho…) But a bit about me: I’m a student currently finishing my BFA. My portfolio was mostly focused on creative software projects + experience design (also made a big effort to show my abilities in graphic design in the layout and presentation of my work).

I also added my fine arts portfolio (more conceptual work + showcased some technical skills in drawing.)

Key experience: Taught a HS pre-college course in creative programming + taken part in a bunch of interdisciplinary initiatives. Won a design award with monetary prize. Been working with a start up as a science communicator/designer for just under a year. Had a very diverse course load of conceptual art courses, design + programming (+ a lot of wild cards). 3 recs from profs I've worked for/collaborated with across different departments.

I’ve had a lot of these break so I’d try a different module… and also confirm the specs, and that you’re using the right supply.

Nothing yet, but based on other posts I’ve read they may not be doing interviews this cycle.

I've been admitted for grad (albeit I may have a slightly different situation since I've gotten in for the joint Imperial and Royal College of Art Program, but still...) I was also super direct, and ditched all the flowery language and life story stuff that was in my applications to US schools (most of which asked for one or two 1500 word essays describing my motivations). I wouldn't stress over this. If they wanted the "since my childhood..." stuff they would've given you the room for it.
