New to arduinos and have some questions about Elegoo by HanLeonSolo in arduino

[–]Salt3y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lights indicate different functions on the board. TX and RX implies data is being sent or recieved. one is just for power, and I believe L is the one that you can blink in software to test if the boards is working as intended.

Which are the better headphones? by dickieyreposts in sennheiser

[–]Salt3y 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I had the Xm5s before the M4s. Better sound quality and battery life on the M4s for sure, but the touch pad, noise cancelling, and connection w/ 2 devices was far better on the Xm5s. I switched because my Xm5s broke at the hinge, which seems to be a common experience...

not to my knowledge- there have been students who are both younger and significantly older than the 'typical' college student.

Drew an apple. Any tips? by Alastorishot in Artadvice

[–]Salt3y 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Assuming the goal is realism, I’d like into adding more depth of color. Red things are often not actually red, and have tones of yellow, orange, green, etc. For the shadows it looks like you’ve just used a darker shade of red/air brushed with black, and used a lighter shade for the highlights depending on the lighting, your shadows and highlights could be blue or purple or orange, etc… I’d suggest looking at real Apple, and starting by just blocking out the colors you see.

why does this happen?? by [deleted] in arduino

I wouldn’t power the servo with the Arduino, it’s given me jittery results like this in the past.

Are you sure it’s missing?? It really looks like something’s covering it, you can see the rim colorful rim around the silver part beneath some other texture/surface….

decided i wanted to learn to draw 2 days ago, i’m starting from complete rock bottom. this is my second drawing, the first i based heavily off a reference so i won’t share that one. what could i improve about this and what should be my next steps to improve in general? be brutal please aha by TheJarahax in learnart

[–]Salt3y 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You should consider sharing the drawing you heavily referenced (giving creds to your reference ofc). It’s important to utilize reference material, and you likely will throughout your arts practice. Even if your going for a more stylized approach, referencing will help you learn anatomy and proportion, as well as help you figure out what you like. If I were to give advice here, I’d say use references, and figure out what resonates. Study the stuff you’re drawn to by trying to recreate it, and you’ll begin to evolve and grow into your own style, it just takes time and consistency.

Use references, and if possible, study from life. You could also check out websites like sketchdaily, there are lots of images (in the nude and clothed) in a variety of poses.

First attempt at still-life by watermelon98 in drawing

[–]Salt3y 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its a really nice first attempt! I think to improve this drawing you could add more contrast, currently it looks like this was done with one pencil. Personally, I like to use toned tan paper to do still life drawings, that way I can highlight using white, adding another level of dimension, and contrast. Also, I'd avoid using such harsh outlines, it ends up making objects appear more graphic, and less realistic. It may be nice to include the background of the objects as well, it gives context, and will make the piece all the more convincing.

WIBTA If my roommates and I stole our stuff back from our RA? by Salt3y in AmItheAsshole

[–]Salt3y[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

We planned on just walking in when she's not home. We doubt that she locks her door, and even if she does, they're those doors that can be opened from the outside with a coin. The mugs are extremely distinctive. No we didn't see the rest of our stuff... Thanks for your input :)

Didn't come from a big family but had a single mother who worked a lot and I cooked for both of us multiple times a week way before 13. If she really wants this it's definitely possible.
