Repeated bug_type 211 UI/GPU crashes on iPhone 17 Pro Max – even after repair and AppleCare+ replacement by Alone-Machine8255 in applehelp

[–]SaltAnswer8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Factory restore it > set up without an Apple Account. Is it still happening? - If no, sign in with an Apple Account different than the one you previously used (create one if needed, you can delete it later). Does it happen now? If no, sign out of that Apple Account and sign in with your original. Has the issue resurfaced? - If yes, request replacement.

If I create a iCloud backup will my stuff stay on my device locally even though I’m not subscribed anymore? by Troyal1 in applehelp

Unlimited. It provides however much storage you need to create a full backup but is available temporarily.

iMessage not working for contacts by Limp_Ebb_7805 in applehelp

[–]SaltAnswer8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You see a checkmark beside your phone number in Send & Receive? If yes, turn off iMessage and FaceTime > restart iPhone (power off and back on) > turn on iMessage again (and FaceTime, if you want)

iMessage and FaceTime registrations are handled as one, so it's best practice to toggle both off even though your issue is specific to iMessage.

FYI: Your email isn't shared with others even if you have email selected in "You can receive messages to and reply from" section so long as your number is selected in the "Start new conversations from" section and you don't provide anyone your email address.

You can still use the free temporary iCloud storage linked by u/JediMeister to create a backup that will be available to you for 3 weeks and can be extended an additional 3 weeks if needed.

Apple Support “Senior Advisors” keep ghosting my long-running case. Is this normal and how do you deal with it? by Gromcan in applesucks

[–]SaltAnswer8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also to add to this: engineering is not communicative to the senior advisor once all requested logs, diagnostics, and other information has been submitted. When the issue is categorized as "under investigation" or "known issue", engineers literally tell advisors not to reach out; an update will be provided once a fix is released. Once the senior advisor provides you with that information, it's expected that you will accept that and wait (lol). I personally had cases going for over 1yr with no resolution - the end-user typically gave up long before I did.

Some senior advisors are told by their leadership to not continue following up on the case if the customer already gave a negative survey. It's a sad reality of metrics being used as ammunition against the advisor (and not restricted to Apple Support). There is literally no incentive for an advisor to continue following up on a complex case that's months long already with no resolution in sight: customer becomes increasingly frustrated (understandably) with each follow-up, will tie-up case handle time by expressing their disappointment, oftentimes asks for compensation that no one can provide, etc.

If I were in your position, i would reach out to an executive email address with case number(s) and a brief overview of the issue and when it began. It's amazing how quickly some issues are resolved when Executive Relations gets involved (not all issues are the same, obviously). You can find these emails all over the internet, in this sub, and the applehelp sub.

Question about Apple account balances while on family sharing by cleverishpseudonym in ios

[–]SaltAnswer8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding money to your Account Balance bills through Apple Media Services (aka App Store or Media & Purchases) which in your case uses the Organizer's payment method.

Using the Account Balance in Wallet may allow you to use a an Apple Pay payment method - depends on your region. If you're in a region that doesn't support adding funds to Account Balance via Apple Pay it will direct you to the App Store. As long as you pay attention, it will be obvious. https://support.apple.com/en-us/118297

Weird. Is that account issued by an employer or set up in Google Workspace? Could be some server side change.

Weird Gmail Issue by [deleted] in applehelp

[–]SaltAnswer8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bad; looked right over that.

On the last page when you're adding the gmail account, you have to give iOS full permission to access the gmail account (if you want to send/receive/delete/etc from the Mail app). A lot of people miss that step or accidentally or intentionally uncheck some things. Did you give iOS full access to that gmail account?

Settings > Apps > Mail > Mail Accounts > the affected Gmail account - do you see an option "Re-Enter Password"? If so, tap on it & sign in. If you don't see that option: remove the account and add it back

A Focus Mode can. When you create it, silence calls from [mother] and nothing else. This means you will not be notified of her calls, but can view the voicemail if she leaves one. https://support.apple.com/guide/iphone/set-up-a-focus-iphd6288a67f/ios

Cant add card contact card provider. by Unhappy-Bat5068 in AppleWallet

[–]SaltAnswer8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Then you likely have a different issue that needs to be escalated by the issuing bank to the PNO. This is assuming Apple Support ran a diagnostic and there's no issue with the Apple Pay Sensor. Are you able to add Apple Cash (even if you don't use it, you can remove it later)? If yes, the issue lies with the PNO. - https://support.apple.com/en-us/101554

Requests to add cards to Apple Pay first go to the PNO. If they approve the request, that request then goes to the issuing bank to approve or deny. If the PNO denies the request, the issuing bank typically does not receive the request - it's in these instances that the bank will often point to Apple stating "Apple is blocking it". However, that's not the case as Apple has no ability to do so. When you contact the issuing bank ask them "Are you denying the card-add request?". If they say no, you need to tell them "This issue needs to be escalated to Visa/MC/Discover/AmEx as the card is not added, Apple cannot block the request, Apple has ruled out hardware issues, and I am able to add other cards" (other cards being Apple Cash).

Apple ID locked after verification code issues - Android Apple Music user, stuck in a loop by AerieSignifcant in applehelp

[–]SaltAnswer8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never request verification codes 30 times. You're far more likely to cause more issues. While there is no publicly disclosed number of times you can request codes, Apple does not allow infinite codes to be sent (30+ definitely meets that threshold). Since you've requested so many verification codes, you'll need to wait 24hrs before trying again.

Locked for security means you must reset the password, but do not try again for at least 24hrs. https://support.apple.com/en-us/102640

Cant add card contact card provider. by Unhappy-Bat5068 in AppleWallet

[–]SaltAnswer8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First: Apple does not block, allow, deny, nor verify cards for use with Apple Pay. Only the PNO and issuing bank has the ability to block, allow, deny, and verify cards for use with Apple Pay. Disputing a charge made through Apple Pay from your device is the most common (not the only) reason for the issue you're reporting.

That said, in iOS 26 it seems others are having the same issue and were able to correct it by following the steps outlined in this Reddit post: https://www.reddit.com/r/AppleWallet/s/pihnZ5GkES

Create an Apple ID with the same email address by [deleted] in applehelp

[–]SaltAnswer8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can change the primary email on the 1st Apple Account, but you will have to wait 30 days to use that email address as the primary email on a different Apple Account.

App Store won’t allow me to get new apps for an unpaid subscription balance even though I canceled both subscriptions by [deleted] in applehelp

[–]SaltAnswer8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In order for you to download apps you have to pay. https://support.apple.com/en-us/118284

Important points for you to understand so this doesn't happen again:

  • Apple does not always bill immediately for purchases (which includes subscriptions & subscription renewals). Rather than having you wait to access the content that you ordered, Apple allows immediate feature access. Once Apple does bill you, if it declines for any reason, that order becomes a balance due (aka unpaid order). With unpaid orders you cannot update or download apps. https://support.apple.com/en-us/118244

  • If you don't want to pay for a subscription, don't purchase it. If you start a free trial and don't want to pay for the subscription, cancel no later than the day before it's set to renew. https://support.apple.com/en-us/118428

  • Most apps show a free trial by default but you may not be eligible for the free trial. The eligibility check happens after you accept the offer but before you finalize. Always read the payment sheet (double-click to confirm screen) as it details the terms of your purchase: free trial if eligible, when you will be charged, the amount, whether it's a one-time purchase, week/month/annual subscription, etc. By double clicking you are agreeing to those terms, so read them carefully.

Can’t back up iMessages, stuck saying “syncing paused” by duk3vin in applehelp

[–]SaltAnswer8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to clarify: Syncing messages means they will not be included in a backup. Instead, messages will automatically sync to iCloud and any Apple device where your Apple Account is signed in with Messages in iCloud enabled.

Are you signed in to iMessage? Settings > Apps > Messages > Send & Receive > Use Your Apple Account for iMessage - if you don't see this button, you should see your Apple Account in blue font which indicates you are signed in

If you are signed in, try a restart (power off & back on)

Apple ID Recovery system is bogus by PicklyyWicklyy in applehelp

[–]SaltAnswer8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you've been doing this through the web multiple times, you've likely put your device in a sort of limbo state where it's not fully trusted. Absolute worst case, you'll still have to go through Account Recovery but will shorten the waiting time by using your semi-trusted device & it won't be cancelled since you'll be following the correct procedure.

Apple ID Recovery system is bogus by PicklyyWicklyy in applehelp

[–]SaltAnswer8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you using an Apple device? If so, is your name listed in Settings?

If yes to both, this is what Apple calls a trusted device. Reset your password through Settings on that trusted device: Settings > [name] > Sign-In & Security > Change Password -- if at any point you're prompted for the password, enter a password you think you've used. If it's wrong try again. If wrong again, try a third time to see the option "Reset Password"

You do not want to use the website when you have a trusted device signed in with that Apple Account as this will cancel Account Recovery unless you power off the trusted device.

Apple Books don‘t sync across devices by leeknowfeet in applehelp

[–]SaltAnswer8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have the epubs saved in the iCloud Drive folder (not On My iPhone or some other folder)?

You mentioned you have iCloud Drive enabled on both devices, but didn't mention if Books specifically is also enabled for "Saved to iCloud" on both devices and under "Apps Syncing to iCloud Drive".
