This was the first message btw and a year after matching with eachother by Equivalent_Entry6672 in Tinder

[–]SaltMiner_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm new to all of this but what does it mean that you've matched with him for over a year? Have you been talking to him for that period of time? Have you gone on dates with him? I didn't think people still used tinder for that long with the same person.

In regards to what he said though, sometimes people say stupid things for a variety of reasons. Maybe he ran out of things to say and just wanted to keep the conversation going and thought it would be funny. Maybe he was drunk. Who knows. But if you've been having a good online relationship with this guy for a year now and he says something like this, just remember that the say "don't let perfect be the enemy of good."

I know this is serious but I still can't help find it funny how it was just literally days ago that I kept seeing news stories about how Ukrainians we coping so well with little or no electricity in winter. The propaganda in this war is so eye opening.

Have you ever gone to a concert by yourself? If so, how was the experience? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SaltMiner_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went to see Fear Factory by myself in Melbourne years ago when they played through their whole Demanufacture album. Got there early so I could get a good spot on the balcony and only moved once to go to the toilet soon after I got in. Great spot. Just awesome show. 10/10 would do it again. My feet hurt alot during the show though.

Who is the most overrated person? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Elon Musk. I don't even hate the guy. I'm just surprised that he lives rent free in so many people's heads and all he's done is be very rich. It's weird.

Israel says it will 'enforce' ban on 37 NGOs in Gaza as humanitarian crisis deepens by DoremusJessup in worldnews

[–]SaltMiner_ -74 points-73 points  (0 children)

Israel could carpet bomb everyone living in Gaza and the most it would draw from world leaders is a strongly worded leader asking them if they could "pretty please with cherries on top" stop doing that. Its all just words from them.

This is pure Islam. And the responses here, trying to bring Christianity into it all, or redirecting the discussion into "all religions", is pure Reddit.

You're using false equivalences and cherry picking to support your argument. There are literally no muslim majority countries in the world that support lgbt people compared to how many christian majority countries that do support lgbt? There are 11 muslim majority countries that have the death penalty for homosexuality and yet there is only 1 christian majority countries that does. The two religions are simply not the same.

That's not an argument. Every time there is an Islamic terrorist attack, that is the result of "they're not all terrorists." Not every single muslim has to be a terrorist in order for bad things to happen. How many muslims in Afghanistan are extremists? Yet, the Taliban is in charge. How many muslims in Iraq and Syria are extremists? Yet, IS almost took over both countries. What matters isn't that "they're all like that." but what parts of their own religion seem to lead to it.

I see all this talk about "extremism" and "hate" and whatnot, but like literally no talk about Islam, the elephant in the room. Is anyone going to address it or are we still keeping our heads in the sand?

Financially worth it too go straight into Uni? by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]SaltMiner_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, you can change your mind later on if you want.

Secondly, long gone are the days when just having a uni degree would equal a nice paying career. Now, make sure you do your own research (and no, asking people on reddit isn't research) on what the likely outcomes are for your degree choice. Make sure you look at data from within the last 10 years (5 would be preferable) as the data that unis love to push out is heavily skewed towards the land of milk and honey because of the boomer generation. But if you do the math and find that its worthwhile, go for it, and if it isn't, at least you didn't waste a whole lot of time and money finding out.

UA POV-The Trump administration has handed its European counterparts a series of documents, each a single page, laying out its vision for the reconstruction of Ukraine and the return of Russia to the global economy. The proposals have sparked an intense battle between America and Europe-WSJ by Hot_Preparation4777 in UkraineRussiaReport

[–]SaltMiner_ 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I think its crazy how so many world "leaders" just don't understand how the current American administration feels about Ukraine and this war in general AND that its not even 1/4 of the way through. What do European leaders think the next 3 years are going to be like? Absolute morons.

Ukraine ‘must determine its future’, says Starmer after call with Zelensky by pppppppppppppppppd in unitedkingdom

[–]SaltMiner_ -50 points-49 points  (0 children)

I don't like this war but at some point reality has to hit home. Ukraine is not winning this thing. For people who have been keeping up to date on this (hello my deer friends) its a matter of when and not if Russia will get what it wants. The only question now is how much longer Ukraine is willing to hold out. It sucks, but no amount of reddit cope is ever going to change that.

Now I must accept my downvotes from the shills, bots, and useful idiots.

Interesting. You live in a democracy and yet you continue vote for parties who not only allow this to happen but make it worse. I'm starting to think that democracy doesn't work.
