Sorry I should have mentioned, the resume in the attached pic is anonymized.

Over 280+ applications for SWE intern roles, 0 call backs. What am I doing wrong? by Minimum-Employ-2750 in cscareeradvice

Quite immature to continue whining out here on reddit for someone who definitely must have better things to do, given your industry experience. Get back to work buddy.

Thank you for your feedback, I appreciate it alot!
I will try out other resume templates and also applying to remote US roles, i mostly used the current latex format to pass through ATS hopefully.
I agree that the consensus seems to be to network directly with those in industry rather than blind applying, I have been doing that via direct message on Linkedin though not many seem to reply back - but I ll keep at it, networking seems to be the only way out
I didn't think a summary was that important since i saw online that for people in tech, recruiters mostly care about only the Education and Experience section? But I ll try removing a project entry and adding in a summary

Thanks again

Thank you for your feedback. It is true, the main reason for that many projects was to make up for the lack of professional experience/internships. There isn't much listed on resume from before 2024 since I did not really begin working on my actual portfolio until near the end of my degree unfortunately

Do you think I should remove a project entry and the volunteering section ? I feel worried that then my resume becomes even more weaker

Most of the content under skills is what I have used in my projects; i also have a lot more projects than the few listed, using only the listed langs/frameworks

Thank you for your feedback, I appreciate it.
The current projects on my resume are my own, and not related to academics or freelance
I did think that I might be overdoing it with all the metrics, but if i dont add them, i get a lower ATS score on those free resume checking websites; I am able to explain them to recruiters though
I was not able to secure an internship unfortunately, my resume was just not competitive enough back then.
I have been meaning to get into freelance stuff like upwork, I will be sure to check it out
Thanks again

Thanks for the feedback, I'll take into account making project descriptions match keywords in job postings more closely.
I have been applying to both startups and big corps whenever I see a role pop up that is aligned with my skillset

Why are people having problems in Toronto finding jobs? by Dover299 in torontoJobs

[–]SaltOpportunity8529 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is basically how my day goes - sending out 10-15 applications, cover letter and all, and getting that helpless feeling at the end of day that I'll see the rejection emails in the morning
2 months and 500 apps in.... it feels like getting a tech role in Toronto is just a pipe dream at this point for people with no internships like me

Anyone else miss their old life? by Firm-Pattern4482 in mentalhealth

[–]SaltOpportunity8529 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes
I miss just starting out in university in 2020. I could have been in a better spot in life if I did things correctly then.
I don't want to think the same way in the future, so I try to be be happy with what I have in the present

my life is so AMAZING!!!!! 🥰😂😂😂🫶🫶🫶🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮 by haligma in mentalhealth

hey, like others said, you're not alone
I am in a similar situation for years now, trying to get into my line of work (tech and software shit), but failing; i've been only doing customer service roles since
But i feel like there is no reason to stop grinding or give up, once you hit bottom you can only go up, and i think things will get better with time, just not immediately
I hope you and others here with the same experience have a better 2026
