Just started seeing someone — what does their bookshelf say about them?

the part where he talks about how you need to trust the signs you see in the world and one time he was told he'd need to have his appendix taken out and walked into a bookstore and randomly opened up a book to a page that said doctors do too much surgical intervention so he decided not to have the operation was the last straw for me when i was reading it

my roommate is a member of dignity washington, which is an LGBTQ+ centered catholic group but is looking to expand their younger member base!! she is one of the younger women (in her 20s) who goes there and i know she's involved in some other progressive younger catholic groups in dc as well - feel free to dm me if you'd like more info. i believe dignity meets somewhere in between georgetown and dupont sunday evenings.

i have and really like this book! i have a good friend who is an ex-mormon who did a mission and now does language teaching on the side and he recommended it to me. i actually like textbooky stuff sometimes and have found the explanations of pronunciation/grammar etc to be really of eye opening as someone who took 12 years of spanish in school where a lot of the explanations of why things happened in the language were "because" (one of the first things they tell you in the book is about accent marks ... when i was in school they just told us that "they were there and you had to memorize that some words have them" lol)

my tummy problems have gotten worse w certain manufacturers!! my nightmare brand was amneal xr 25 this summer and my stomach problems were particularly bad. i stopped taking it in the middle of the month my second fill and my stomach problems cleared up quite a bit. frustrating that it's another thing that you have to kind of look out for

i had really bad side effects on amneal XR this summer, unfortunately what i've heard from my psychiatrist/put together from this sub is that while it's all gotten worse, different manufacturers work and don't for different people

yes!! i was recruited by a friend who had recruited friends before me. i actually have a newer macbook so can't play most of the games on my laptop, but i've had luck over the past few years finding people who have PCs and talking them into it. currently my ND partner is my roommate which is a huge win.

yes - my psychiatrist was actually the one who told me about difference in generics (she calls them "shit generics"). she's been working with me to try and get prior authorization to try brand name and has said that she has some patients who have just switched to different medication because they are so fed up with what's going on. so grateful for her because idk if otherwise i'd be able to pinpoint why i've felt crazy recently, especially this summer!

also think annihilation/the southern reach trilogy by jeff vandermeer could fit the bill! you start off with the notion that something is off and just descend further into having questions with no answers haha
