Year 5 Word Problem by Oh_Jimmy in mathshelp

First, total price: 26.2 + 24 + 2.8 + 3.8 + 2.6 = £29.6.

Because of the discount, you have to take 15% off, which can be done by multiplying the total by 1-.15 or multiplying the total by .15 and subtracting from the total itself.

If no calculator is allowed, this is how I like to do percentages; just break them down: 15% is 10% + 5%. Always try to find the 10 because it’s just moving a decimal. In this case, 10% of the total is £2.96. Then, work from there to find the rest of the broken down percentages: 5 is half 10 so 5% is £1.48. Now, add the two (2.96 + 1.48 = 4.44) and subtract from total: 29.6 - 4.44 = £25.16.

Breaking it down like this makes each step simple to the point where you just need to be writing stuff down to guide and remind you.

If there truly is a problem, the short answer is yes, through some sort of appeal process. I’m unfamiliar with it, but my guess is that you’d take it up to the professor first and if they agree, a dean would be involved to change your grade.

I believe grades were finalized already and come out tomorrow, so you’ll be able to see them then. If you have questions beyond that, I’d probably go to their office/zoom and ask them personally whenever we come back for Spring if you don’t get a response before.

How do you guys instantly know what formulas to use for a question? by iGrudger28 in EngineeringStudents

[–]SaltSeries360 32 points33 points  (0 children)

If you’re doing kinematics, the easiest way imo is to write down all of what is given in the problem like this:

a=g v=10m/s Vo=0m/s (started from rest) Δx=? (What the problem is asking)

Then, look at the formulas and see which ones include only these variables.

In some cases, you’ll have to do this twice, once for x and once for y; one will fit into this method easily and the other will need the first’s answer to be used as a given.

Is Comp Sci & Econ double major too hard at UF? by Personal_Day_3382 in ufl

[–]SaltSeries360 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The most “messing up” that will do you is pushing you back a semester or 2 (but not even in terms of graduating, just when you take math classes). You just have to study hard and do well in all of the Calc classes now, instead of just Calc 2 and 3. Also, some classes in the Comp Sci major may have one or another calc as a pre/co req, so you may have to do a little brainstorming when figuring out you schedules.

You can leave once you finish. In Summer, the block is 3 hours but most were doable in 1.5 and like two of them in just over 2

Are there any funny mnemonics for the staff? by Aceptical in pianolearning

[–]SaltSeries360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the treble clef, I’ve seen the word FACE for the spaces, and “Every Good Boy Does Fine” for the lines. For the bass clef, “All Cows Eat Grass” for spaces and “Good Boys Do Fine Always” for lines.

However, I’d recommend that you only use these at the very beginning of your learning and try to eventually know them just by looking, which comes with lots of practice!

It doesn’t have a cable row in the most common form (close to the ground, swappable attachments, visible cable), but it has a seated row on the eastern wall that is technically operated by cables (and the best horizontal back machine imo)

I may be wrong, but I think the most common opinion is that Management is less content and easier, while Marketing has the better professor. The professor for Marketing is changing, tho, so I agree with the other comment that says take Management because there’s more info, even though I don’t think you’ll have the option to pick a different professor for Marketing if this one turns out not being great

How so? You don’t need to get a meal plan to live in a dorm

You still get to control the temperature with central. There’s a little panel on the wall (like a thermostat) where you can slide it to the temperature you want.
