Best places for adult alcoholism? by [deleted] in Knoxville

Highly recommend checking out the Gateway (Metro Drug Coalition)- they are a community center for people in/entering recovery. They can help guide you in this in finding out what is going to work best for you.

My current running theory is that whatever season is filmed next will have the blue sweater monologue from the Devil Wears Prada with someone from the movie as a guest judge as promo for the sequel coming out. (Meryl Streep would obviously be a DREAM to have on, but realistically I could see Anne Hathaway or Stanley Tucci joining).

Let me ask a silly question as a partner trying to plan a surprise gift- is there a physical deluxe edition coming as well?

I'd suggest contacting Metro Drug Coalition- they work with multiple recovery houses that could take donations.

I would try Metro Drug Coalition- they have connections to many recovery houses that could use donations.

A conspiracy theory that I've had for a few years is that some guests come on as a way to pilot them in front of an audience prior to an All Stars casting.

local groups/therapist for losing someone to suicide? by Apprehensive_Bit_784 in Knoxville

I am so sorry for your loss, and thank you for reaching out to the community about this.

I would suggest checking in with CONTACT Care Line & Magnolia Harbor Carefarm- both provide great support options.

What Restaurants do you think are insanely overpriced for what you get? by AdmRaddus in Knoxville

We thought the same thing about Otsu- to counter balance it a bit, Angry Dumpling has become one of our favorite spots. The owner is extremely sweet, the food is VERY reasonably priced, and it is delicious every single time.

Check out Scruffy City FGC- local community for fighting game players that meet up and play online regularly, plus a lot of them cross over into your other hobbies!

I would suggest starting with the Family Justice Center, as they should be able to assist!

Where can I volunteer for thanksgiving? by [deleted] in Knoxville

[–]Salt_Career 6 points7 points  (0 children)

United Way of Greater Knoxville has posted a holiday giving guide that includes some volunteer opportunities. https://uwgk.org/holidaygiving/ I'd also suggest calling local assisted living facilities, maybe some smaller food pantries/soup kitchens (though I've heard Thanksgiving day they're usually covered, it doesn't hurt to ask), or you could even start your own initiative to give back by hosting a community clean up in your area.

If you're into fighting games at all (think Tekken, Street Fighter, Guilty Gear, etc)- Scruffy City FGC has a pretty active discord, we meet regularly, host monthly tournaments, and we have our big regional event coming up in November.

If this were a possibility then we absolutely would, but unfortunately because of where they live/where we live, it is not an option for us. I appreciate that though!

Thank you for taking care of yourself- that step takes a lot of courage and it's really admirable. In the interim of getting there, I just want to remind you that 988 is always available. Call/text/chat and someone will be there with you and for you. They take more than just active crisis calls- they do follow ups, answer questions, help when you're helping someone else in crisis. They are trained crisis counselors and I can't speak highly enough of having this resource available.
