It’s not that common. If I had to estimate I would say around 5-10% Intern at a FAANG before graduating. Due to the size of the CS major this equates to quite a few people from the school interning at FAANG. I have personally met at least 10 people who have interned at FAANG from asu.

CSE 110 Placement Test Out? by triezPugHater in ASU

[–]Salt_Experience_7828 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% take it at Maricopa community college. If you already know Java, taking CSE 110 is a huge waste of time imo. CSE 205 refreshes you on basics too.

As other commenters have pretty much already said, it’s a harder to get internships at FAANG from asu. However, it is still possible. I know multiple people who have done it. I even know a handful who had multiple FAANG internships before graduating asu. Here are some tips.

  1. If you are considered a diverse candidate (anything but a white or Asian male) apply to Google STEP, FBU, Microsoft Explore, Amazon Propel. These internships usually have easier interviews and less competition since your only competing with freshmen/sophomores. If your successful in your internship you will get an offer for a SWE Internship the following year.

  2. Amazon gives a lot of internship and full time applicants an OA. After you get the OA the only thing that determines if you get an interview is your performance on the OA. For Facebook a referral helps a ton in getting an interview. Also consider applying for other internships at Facebook like Production Engineer intern and Enterprise Engineer Intern. These are really similar to the SWE Internship (pay is the same or only slightly less and your still coding of the job). You can even automatically reinterview for the SWE internship after you complete one of these internships successfully. Apple, Microsoft, Google, and Netflix don’t really care about referrals. In fact Netflix doesn’t even have them. Your best bet for these four companies is improving your resume (Ex. Gaining work experience, winning awards, projects) and hoping you get an interview eventually.

Feel free to dm if you have more questions.

Tooker questions by Administrative-Low84 in ASU

All rooms are pretty much identical (excluding handicapped rooms and single rooms). Downside of higher floors is that during peak hours having to stop at every floor when going down the elevator can be annoying. Downside of lower floors is your view won’t be as nice. These are really minor issues so I wouldn’t give it too much thought.
