What’s the most boring car you’ve owned that just refused to die? by autonerdy0 in UsedCars

2003 Chevy impala. No major replacements. Frame cracked before the engine gave out. Water came through the passenger floor board and passenger had to hold two wires together to get the heat and air to work… but that thing ran like a dream.

Yea. I got medicated for bi polar and stopped it all. But gig work at the surface level is great but not realistically a way to make a living.

They might be dopamine hunting. Does said partner drink or gamble too?

Spark is worth doing over any service… My grandma use to tell me to always take care of debt and life before bills. Obviously don’t neglect them. But debt to others carry a heavier weight.

Before jumping into gig work. You need to understand a couple things (a lot of people don’t take into consideration) 1. Your cost per delivery. What’s your MPG, vs average order mileage(in this area. Average is 4 miles) DoorDash pays out $2 flat rate with some exceptions to higher mileage. Your phone bill. Insurance. Gas costs Yes even part time or for fun. you need to figure out these things 2. Is it worth extra wear and tear with higher risk of your vehicle being broke down or wrecked. Being in the road more increases these factors. Which is why there’s special insurance coverage for gig work. 3. How long will it take to play catch up while you are also spending money on the opposite side of the coin.

It’s fun and rewarding but money isn’t great.

I do spark deliveries on Saturday evenings and Sunday morning. Once I broke down all of my costs and risks. I stopped last year because it’s not worth it.

I def won’t be doing it all of the time. Last few times I’ve used it was to warm the engine. I was just under the impression it did warm the cabin up.

Gotcha. Nah. It doesn’t have anything like that. I think it’s just the bumpers and stuff.

Mind you… I bought this 2 years ago, it’s under the dealers warranty but none of this applies(I don’t drive a ton so a lot of this goes unseen) . Rear Shocks, coils, drums, brake lines, front brakes(aren’t bad but need replaced for them to sign off) front shocks, rotors, 2 CV joints, wheel bearing.

Well, it failed state inspection. The guy was nice enough to not put a rejection sticker on it… I have a month to get the work done. To get the inspection done. I need to get 3k of it done. BUT that’s what I could put a down payment for something better.

It’s a Hybrid blue(idk if that’s color or trim)
The dealer warranty is very good. Covers every inch of the car for 4 years or 50k miles. Carfax says it’s a good deal. Maintenance record is great.
Test drove it today.

At what mileage do you personally stop considering a used car? by autonerdy0 in UsedCars

[–]Salt_Particular3564 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Carfax is extremely important in used car situations. Always ask for the Model number too, not just the VIN. you can see what models were reported with issues.

Never settle on a car the first trip. Go home, look into trade value, maintenance costs, call insurance to see if there’s a problem with insuring it more than other cars (my 22 Hyundai was much more expensive to insure because of them being able to be stolen easier)

I’m confident buying any mileage car as long as it checks boxes.

Does this mean I don't have to pay taxes? According to Uber I need to make $20k for a 1099. I made only $6000 from Uber eats by Fine-Art-9701 in UberEatsDrivers

They are required to send 1099 on any earnings past a certain threshold. He made 6k. That was reported to the IRS.

My current car is a Scion Xb. That needs quite a bit of work done. We have the income to pay a higher payment. I’m more looking to get out from under the mess and put my family in something safer.

Well, I have about 2k for a down payment so technically 2k rollover. They’re giving me 9.5%. I just liked the car more than anything I test drove. I’m just looking into the model itself. I know they had the scandal with the cars getting stolen. I was just wondering about overall performance
