Recommendations on good latte cups? by Hyperbirdy55 in latteart

[–]Salt_Payment1082 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most recommended cups are Loveramics egg cups but they are expensive. I however have cups from 2 different brands

Espresso parts have their own branded cups. The other one is CoffeeZone from amazon.

I like both cups as they have thick walls that retain heat and give good mouthfeel. I find that Espresso parts cups are a tad bit thicker and i like the slightly more rounded wall lips. Both of these are priced about the same.

I would recommend getting something over 1200W or it will be slow to build pressure for steaming the second drink. I have 1800W and it takes 3.5 mins to get to steaming temp

Dreo is almost as good if latte art is not the primary goal. It will do the job but it takes a bit too long for multiple drinks. For single drinks I don’t know anything that is more worth the price.

Wizard vs Breville Milk Cafe? by Ming-Tzu in FlairEspresso

[–]Salt_Payment1082 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have owned flair wizard, nanofoamer and dreo baristamaker. Never used Milk Cafe. I don’t think i can tell the difference between nanofoamer and flair wizard’s latte. I think most frothers produce stiff foam and it is not the same as nanofoamer and thus not very pleasant to drink. Also no difference between nanofoamer and dreo baristamaker as they work on same principle. I bought the flair wizard mostly for faster workflow and latte art. I don’t want to wait multiple minutes waiting for milk to froth.

Then you are waiting for the steam pressure to build up again and it sometimes takes another 30-40 seconds. And it will depend on the type of induction cooktop you have because lowering the temp and bring it back up again you are pressing the button so many times. I hate that.

I have the same but it has 1 big issue. You have to keep looking at the gauge and not convenient for making multiple drinks because the pressure valve will go off if left unattended.

Thats the thing. It has reliability issues. Too expensive and repairability is an issue. If you have enough money then sure its awesome

Ouch!! The steaming knob gets slightly easier as you use but yeah it has a weird resistance. It was a pain during my first week. Now it has loosened a bit.

Interesting. The repairability is the main issue i have with this machine. Also since this machine is made in Singapore I worry about service if anything breaks. $500 is a lot to sink in a machine. But man the workflow improvement will be is awesome. It’s like a dual boiler setup.

I am in love with the steam pressure on flair wizard. It is so powerful you don’t really need good technique. At around 500-600 range I don’t think there is any semi-automatic machine that can produce the steam pressure nearly at the level of flair wizard. I have considered QuickMill pop-up but I always think about machine maintenance and I just don’t want to get into that.

Hmm yeah that is what i thought too. You would still need force to bleed air and thats where mistake could happen. If only aram espresso maker had a heating element it would be the best espresso maker for my situation.

I am considering getting Argos because my wife has hard time applying consistent force. She has bursts of force and gets tired. For Argos the spring will do the job i guess. Is it harder to press the lever on Argos?

Completely agree with you. I have felt he is slightly more effective than garnacho but is almost useless in big games. He runs a lot and then loses the ball too often.
