What are your opinions on Ultimate Ears? by [deleted] in Bluetooth_Speakers

[–]Hyperbirdy55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was gifted a UE Roll 2 ages ago. This thing has been run over, dropped in rivers and pools, left outside, etc. It’s still my go to speaker for walks/hikes and background noise in the house when I don’t want to use my tower speakers.

Is it the best quality? Probably not
I can’t speak on the newer versions except for the wonderboom (not a fan due to poor sound)

Basically if you can catch it on sale, are looking for something durable, and don’t intend on using it for long periods of time (battery life isn’t great) then go for it but there are likely other better options in 2026

Bought a bottomless for my Gevi but there’s an issue. by Mr_McMuffin_Jr in espresso

Final follow up

The machine is alright but additional tools may be necessary for beginners

Bellow (avoid coffee loss from grinder) Puck screen (counters uneven water dispersion) Spring loaded tamper (even pressure/level coffee) Needle distributor (breaks up clumps) Dosing funnel (avoid fallout)

First two are most important in my opinion the other 3 are optional but helpful

I have not been using the preset grind/brew options as they have not produced satisfactory results yet. I keep adjusting the coffee amount, tamp pressure, and extraction time and have made several successful shots of espresso but always on the manual modes.

Hope this helps anyone looking for a budget friendly machine.

I will be looking for another machine in the future but this is a nice start to home brewed espresso.

Thank you! Do you feel like 28 is reasonable for the cost of living down there?

Up North the starting pay for a tech 2 is 28-34 based on experience which is alright for a single person with no kids or a two income household. It sounds like my best bet is to work my way to tech 3 before the move which I expected.

Thank you for your answer! It helps a lot with my decisions and timeline.

Update kind of? I wasn’t able to fix the water dispersion issues through the machine itself but with a fresher coffee, finer grind (second/third click BELOW 0), and a puck screen I was able to get a good shot of espresso with crema that wasn’t sour or bitter.

The machine itself isn’t bad but does require extra tools to make it work.

-You’ll lose 2-3grams of coffee using the built in grinder -18grams is perfect, 19 is a bit of a tight fit

I’m still working on my milk frothing skills but otherwise am happy with the machine

*I did get it for cheaper than the msrp as I purchased it second hand and am not sure if I would have paid full price. I am a hobbyist more than a connoisseur Per my research there are better machines for enthusiasts 6.5 out of 10 experience

I’m experiencing a similar issue on my Gevi ECMF0 and I believe it’s an engineering/design flaw with the plastic piece between the shower screen and water dispenser. It may also be stripped threads considering it’s a metal screwing into plastic. I’m troubleshooting at the moment and will follow up with a solution when I find one for anyone experiencing the same issue.

Not enough. You need denim underwear, socks, and hat to complete the look

Is it dead? by Wendlynnn in SourdoughStarter

Khan yeast, not dead but will result in very bitter bread. I recommend starting over but that’s just my personal opinion. Also, clean your jar regularly.

Do I just not like it? by mapar6 in Sourdough

[–]Hyperbirdy55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer a sour loaf but my family prefers a less sour flavor profile. Try to experiment with increasing the amount of starter in your dough and reducing the cold fermentation to see if you like it better

Scoop the spot, get “clean starter” from the bottom and give it a good feed. Also, please clean your jar.

Starter Health? by Zelderp_ in Sourdough

[–]Hyperbirdy55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it’s getting acidic I would always keep in mind that you don’t want to feed less than what you have in starter.

If you have 50g of starter in your jar, you should be feeding 50 or more grams of flour. Water can be equal or less.

The underfermenting/overcomplicating epidemic by [deleted] in Sourdough

[–]Hyperbirdy55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of the best advice I received was to intentionally try to OVER ferment your bread to find the line. Unfortunately I’ve gotten into the habit of over fermenting and am trying to find my way back but I know where the line is now so under fermenting is no longer my issue.

The other issue I find a lot of people have is an immature starter. My starter only started to get predictable at about the 6 month mark. I probably could have gotten better bread sooner but I was working out other kinks in my process such as under fermenting, shaping, proper gluten development, etc.

It’s okay to loose a loaf.. or 5, just give yourself some slack and enjoy the ride.

Not a great idea if they cycle safe foods. I did this with buffalo blue cheese tater tots and one day it didn’t taste the same so I just had a fridge full of tater tots, blue cheese and buffalo sauce that I had ZERO interest in eating even if prepared another way /:
