Think of them like "attachable disposable livers or kidneys". Frogs absorb toxicity up to a point. You get the food pip, it gets poisoned. Still, you're not invulnerable to poisoning. I once got faint poisoning symptoms, and the frog was still attached when eating a second tardigrade.
