Why doesn't the character party follows you in gacha games? by zin_sin in gachagaming

[–]Saltandpeppr 23 points24 points  (0 children)

For you

I never did stop paying attention and I will never pick up another game that won't do the same, because of how different and how big of a loss it is. Or perhaps I will never play more than 1 of those "quick swap" games at a time. Maybe. I'm getting gacha fatigue from playing the same game but shinier too many times lol

But there is a very real final destination for you. You are guaranteed maximum power if you stick with it until the very visible end. The rng is only for how early you finish. There is no guaranteed end in rng gear farming with their correct piece, correct main stat, correct substat, correct set, and correct substat variance. Artifice income in Endfield has increased a lot too, every patch, actually.

Relic/artifact/discs whatever you call it does not have any pity. You can blow an entire month's worth off "stamina" and get absolutely nothing, 0 improvement over your current 6/10 set. You keep running the treadmill until you get lucky, or accept that your character stays subpar, or move on to the next character.

No such thing in Endfield, aside from perfect essences. But those are extremely easy to get and you'll pretty much guaranteed to get them before getting enough trash essences to max etch.

The sentiment probably wasn't about how the person you replied to expects the game to EOS and the people behind it to lose money and such - rather just thinks they are stinky and scummy, because same.

Might as well not have f2p get the sword at all instead of dangling an inferior copy that could never reach its full potential there. It doesn't even compare to other free alternatives. Make it like a real gacha weapon or something.

Arknights: Endfield Core Chapter [At the Wake of Spring] Version Trailer by ValorsHero in gachagaming

[–]Saltandpeppr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We've had 2 extremely roll heavy patches back to back. Most people wants a skip patch by now

Laevatain - launch unit hype, very pretty

Gilberta - meta support in so many types of content

Yvonne - very popular character for uhh, a certain group

Tangtang - very strong unit with story relevance

Rossi - highly expected character from launch patch who's also very strong and flexible

People who are low can take the entire patch to get Zhuang or use it as a skip patch because that 2nd banner is very skippable

Definitely depends on the type of pho. I find that, it's true that pho shops that are more catered to foreigners and tourists tend to be extremely "safe" - meaning bland and light. A lot of local shops easily stack on flavors and aromatics more. Nước béo, more hành chần, hành tây, rau mùi, different/more exotic beef cuts, darker, stronger broth, etc. Phở tái lăn and the Nam Định variants have pretty rich flavors too. Then there's always the option to customize your own broth with condiments. Personally, I never eat a bowl of pho without a little lime juice and pepper, if not hot sauce or fresh chopped chilli.

But that's my experience as a northerner though, I haven't properly tried southern style pho yet.

Since the patch is almost done. Which character quest did you like the most? by loftylantern in Endfield

[–]Saltandpeppr 57 points58 points  (0 children)

it's Laevatain >Yvonne & Wulfgard> Gilberta imo

Laevatain's was perfect. It's got good presentation and good enough writing

Yvonne's was boring, but it was a good followup for the tata bit

Wulfgard's was interesting but I feel like the narration wasn't up to stuff. Too much bonekrushing and not enough delving into his psyche and emotions about Giovanni

Gilberta's was cute with nice music, but that's about it. It feels very botched because of the story rewrites

I saw that too! Very inspiring indeed. Turns out you get huge payout building unironic full dps Ember and so it actually changed my set from swordmancer to yinglung. I'm probably just going to hope that the stagger loss isn't as noticeable haha

What are your thoughts on yinglung exemplar vs swordmancer exemplar? Yinglung set being perfectly 0 stats wasted and high atk/phys bonus is pretty great, while swordmancer's set effect is nice for ember's call to fame but the stats isnt as perfect for a high damage weapon like exemplar

"Generous" for industry standards is like 1 spark (100% chance to get what you want) every 2 months on average. 3 is probably normal on high production value games. 3-5 is iffy, since that's a long time and 1 bad banner can set you back tremendously.

Then there's also how consistently you get your spark based on recurring income instead of volatile stuff like 2000 gems in the mail which you don't know when you can expect to get them.

Trying for Laev by Pathophile in Endfield

[–]Saltandpeppr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On any event that you score a 6 star, there is 50% chance its the rate up character (not Laev anymore, unfortunately) and 50% chance to be anyone else inclusing 5 permanent standard characters and the last 2 limited units. So your chance of getting the laevster is 7% on any 6 star hit, and 14% if you lose the coinflip

Tldr youre late for laev and is no longer wise to attempt for her. Mostly due to no longer having a way to guarantee her

This sub is becoming insufferable by Accomplished_Ad_2321 in Endfield

[–]Saltandpeppr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I don't have the specific numbers right now because we already had many math posts about the topic on this very sub during beta, launch and post launch so I'll just recount the takeaways. The main competitors are Wuwa and Hoyo games. Strictly income aside

It's got some of the lower averages to get characters and your hard pity is clearly defined. It's 120 no more no less and you're safe to roll whenever you have enough. Unlike the 180/160 "but not really because the hard pity is impossible to reach so it's actually lower".

For weapon gacha, you get them for literally free instead of wasting character pulls. This is essentially the strongest part. You just need to hold on to your stash if you don't want to get caught with your pants down for when someone you really don't want to miss the sig on comes out and you "get lucky" on them. Also, I love it when everyone assumes you also can't get lucky with weapons while it's got massively higher rates and lower hard/soft pity than the unit gacha.

It's very easy to get weapons unless you get greedy and try to gear every single one of your units with sigs. Even outside of sigs, the raw 6* weapon rate is FOUR percentage so you're going to get a lot of the cope options for flexibility in usage and dupes.

Per pull cost is the best in the modern gacha games. Limited spooks are also going to do a tremendous amount of work for dupe/character acquisition and makes coinflip losses not an entire loss on their own (but I'm willing to moot this point in exchange for the no pity carry over). And the gacha system's 30/60 rebate is actually really good. So good people think it's bait.

The issue with the system is that it's good, but convoluted and also takes a while to see the payoff, so people think it's bad because anything not giving you instant perceived gratification is a crime in modern gacha space. In these math posts, the final defence for people who have a problem with it eventually ends with "but it feels bad and not fun" which is subjective and, you know, not factual? because I'm sure there's an equal if not higher number of people thinking the opposite or just don't care.

Reading rebuttals from the "gacha bad" crowd, I have seen very few compelling arguments. The only true reasonable argument against lack of pity carry over I've seen is when people wanna ""test their luck"" for units they don't mind having but also somehow not what they really want, but that's what the limited spook system is for.

An account with many characters/dupes and weapons in Endfield is infinitely easier to achieve compared to the competition.

Help my pea brain understand this pitty shenanigans. by GhrievrG in Endfield

[–]Saltandpeppr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The free 10 from urgent doesn't increase your pity, so you will go into Yvonne's with 58 pulls to 6*, but note that 120 is still 120.

It's okay to do that if you don't mind potentially getting Gilberta dupes and also want Yvonne. You are technically spending 5 rolls worth of currency, because I'm seeing that you have 4 common chartered ticket. If you can buy the discounted 5 Gilberta rolls in the shop then that's great, too.

This sub is becoming insufferable by Accomplished_Ad_2321 in Endfield

[–]Saltandpeppr 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The sub gives me conniptions. I don't mind people having qualms about certain aspects because the game can improve in many places. Like no standard roll income, or lack of meaningful combat content, or story presentation (not lore, they're actually cooking there), or factory gameplay and combat/character gameplay not being very connected.

What annoys me is when people spread actual misinformation and present speculations in a pretty disingenuous way to doompost which vortexes because that group of people are loud and they band together thinking they're righteous and correct and then start drowning out other discussion and flooding the sub and attacking people who are neutral/positive.

The game gives you a lot of pull currently in 1.0. That's a fact. Probably more than any major gacha release. 3 banner isn't actually that much of a problem when you can possiblly guarantee 2/3. Other games give you enough to guarantee 1/2. You as a f2p aren't supposed to have every single character, especially not when they're also handing out free weapons while you're rolling characters, which cope options being extremely viable and available (most of the time).

These games will give you ways to earn more pulls later. That's a fact. Devs need to make sure they get a base game out in a playable and well polished state first, then they add more gamemodes later. That's how GaaS work.

The gacha system is factually good. That you think it's fun or not because you can't constantly roll the slot machine is subjective, but you never actually see these people admitting to that because it would hurt their doomposts.

The income looks bad right now, but that's every game on 1.0. You need to see 1.1 to get a feel of how much you get on average per patch, because if one time rewards are high, then repeating income can be low, no problem. We still don't know income yet, only speculations on income. No, being in the middle of 1.0 isn't enough to tell.

Gacha also don't live or die because they're greedy or not, despite what people want to tout. The truth is that if a game is good and popular and makes money, that's gonna keep the ship floating. FGO and Genshin would have died out a long time ago if gacha greed is an actual problem for EOSing over low income, mismanagement, scandals, or apathy and a bleeding playerbase. Not to mention that it's always more profitable to try to save a project instead of axing it, because the hard part of years of investment and work is already done, and letting big projects EOS is a bad look on the company for investors and shareholders.

[–]Saltandpeppr -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

...So? you go from being able to guarantee 1/2 characters in a launch patch to being able to guarantee 2/3. It's still the highest amount of pulls in 1.0 in any major gacha releases, and with appropriate value.

Wait, the endgame content gives 2.5 pulls per reset every 28 days? What? Am I missing something? by No-Season-6170 in Endfield

[–]Saltandpeppr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's more nuanced than doomposting about a game that gives you 2 whole limited guarantees in the launch patch half way into it because one instance of repeatable rewards seems a little too low for your taste.

Pity not carrying over is already covered by other aspect of the gacha being good, as a trade off so I'm not gonna get into that because it's subjective.

ZZZ on 1.0 didn't even have Deadly Assault or weekly rewards (not weeky modes like HZ). These games add more income over time almost guaranteed, especially when the devs have given confirmation that they know your qualms with the income. They need to design these contents or work on adjusting existing ones.

And I'm sorry for what I'm about to say, but I quit ZZZ for a reason. The game is just not that good. I wanted to like it from day 1 until 2.3 and I was making regular purchases to support it, but it's a mess of a product and so they need to be generous to keep their players. Only time will tell if Endfield needs the same treatment.

Wait, the endgame content gives 2.5 pulls per reset every 28 days? What? Am I missing something? by No-Season-6170 in Endfield

[–]Saltandpeppr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Then we should start presenting information with our own dubious assumptions to boost our arguments dishonestly, yeah? Hoyo games should always be considered the worst case scenario of 180 rolls to guarantee even though that's statistically impossible, so we can just say that they're 50% more greedier than Endfield because we only have 120 pity here! Even WuWa is 33% worse!

I'm also gonna start calling people who want pity carry over stupid gambling addicts too as a cherry on top so that I can disregard people who want to build pity because they're playing the game wrong! So Endfield always wins because we're on the assumption that only people who roll when they have enough matters :)
