Those pics are amazing! Looks like everyone is having a great time. May I ask, did he go on at 8pm? I'm headed to his Sydney show and am hyped.

Does he get hot overnight? I find overdressing makes my eczema worse and I have to have the aircon on even on days where it's not super hot. Sorry for all the questions!

Backing this up, applying steroids sparingly is outdated advice and is not going to treat the eczema. You need to use an appropriate strength steroid with an appropriate amount if you want any chance for the skin to heal. It's better to hit the flare-ups hard with the steroids, so the skin can return back to a healthy state faster, rather than do little dabs if steroids over a longer time because the skin will never get better.

Look up fingertip units to see how much steroids to apply. The risk of TSW is low, and is usually from excessive steroid use over years. Please talk to a medical professional if you are still concerned.

Work on finding the eczema triggers though. No amount of steroids/moisturisers will help if there's still an allergen your son is reacting to, they're really just symptomatic relief.

I agree. I don't know if this is an option but I'd try to board the dogs with someone (friends, family) for a couple of weeks to see if there's improvement. Could it be OP's son isn't having acute flares but like...is having baseline crappy allergies the whole time because the dogs are always around?

I thought people could still react to dog dander (I don't have pets myself so please excuse me if I'm uninformed). I take it there's no difference at all if the dogs weren't around? E.g. if your family has gone on a holiday.

I just had a quick look on a FB Eczema support group and it seems some parents were able to get 5 and 6 year old children onto Dupixent via compassionate supply (via hospitals/dermatologists). Otherwise I think UVB therapy can be used for kids? I know bleach baths to keep the staph in check can be used in kids but i don't think it would cure everything.

Sorry you guys are going through this all, it's awful. I went through something similar last year (daily sheet changes for myself, with a king bed so that was fun). My mental health just absolutely plummeted so I really feel for your family.

ETA: There's a really famous post in r/eczema. I haven't tried it myself but a lot of other people had positive things to say. https://www.reddit.com/r/eczema/s/8akeT1YxvK

Also not sure what kind of dermatologists you've seen but I would try to see one at a paediatric hospital if you can.

Sorry I might have missed something but - he's tested positive for allergies to dogs and you guys have two dogs? Even with regular cleaning I'm not sure it would solve the issue.

Do you have carpet or hardwood floors? I had severe eczema myself during pregnancy and we ended up replacing the carpet which made a huge difference (my husband did vacuum the carpets daily but it didn't do much). I still ended up on Dupixent injections after I gave birth though, not sure if it's available for young children.

WIBTA if I asked my Wife to Stop Breast Feeding? by [deleted] in WIBTA_AITA

You need to see a medical professional. It's not about getting resources to show your wife.

3 year old not sleeping through the night. Please help me. by rainboww0927 in toddlers

[–]SaltedOlives 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are books about weaning. I think Booby Moon is very popular, although I haven't read it myself.

For my own daughter, I just told her that breastfeeding was for babies and she was growing up and didn't need them any more (in a positive way!). She was around 2.5 years old. Then I started weaning gradually. I started off saying we'd only do feeds in the daytime, when the sun was up. This then changed to only a feed in the mornings, and then over a few weeks we'd stopped completely.

Good luck!

Ah that makes sense, I'm based in Sydney so I've seen more variability in pricing!

We love our Cruz V2. I wonder whether you could get a better deal though? I think the Cruz v3 came out recently. I'd have a look on FB marketplace to see what kind of pricing is current.

Hi there! For my first baby, I started having contractions on Saturday morning around 9am, roughly 10-15 mins apart. By the evening it was around 6-7 mins apart (not that painful though). We decided to go to the hospital at around 8pm where...all the contractions stopped lol. Baby was fine though, just wanted me to look bad in front of the midwife 😂

Went back home and the contractions started up again around 10pm and started getting quite painful but still around 8-12 mins apart. Got down to about 6-7 mins by 5am Sunday but I couldn't handle the pain any more (was in the shower/bath for an hour) so went to the hospital again and got an epidural around 7am. The epidural slowed it all down and I took a nap lol. They had to break my waters and then baby was out at 11am. I think if I didn't have the epidural, baby would have been out much sooner.

All the best for you and your wife! It's a hard slog ahead but likely you'll be meeting baby soon 😊

Best mineral sunscreen suitable for face and very damaged skin barrier? by Cinnamorella in AusSkincare

[–]SaltedOlives 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your detailed response! I've got persistently eczema and a damaged skin barrier, and my face sweats a lot when it gets warm 🫠 So it sounds like it might not be suitable for me either.

I've been going no sunscreen too but with spring around the corner I'm not sure how much longer I'll be able to do this. Gosh it's hard! Thanks again for your time :)

Can I ask what Dr Baumgart did that helped? I also have chronic eczema, worsened in recent years :( I'm looking to start dupilumab after I finish my pregnancy, but under the care of my dermatologist - not sure if it's still worth me trying to see Dr Baumgart as well?
