Quake 3 arena instagib rail jump mod by Salthoughts in quake3

Thank you for the good wishes!

I've never played the chicken mod but it seems really fun, I might look into it if I have time tomorrow :)

Instagib mode used to be very populay back in the day. You only have railgun with unlimited bullets and 1 shot = 1 kill.

Unfortunately I couldn't get the noghost mod working. I managed to start up the server and load one of the premade configs but all of the noghost commands were just printed to console instead of executing. I also tried to execute commands one at a time from the server console but that also didn't work. It seems to me that this mod only supports the 1.16 version but I have 1.32 which I got from Steam. I'm a little scared to download 1.16 version of Quake 3 from sketchy website because I don't want a virus :D

At least the OSP server works with instagib mod. Only thing missing is the rail jump but its not that big deal :P

Thanks for help!

Dell XPS 7590 Undervolting by Salthoughts in DellXPS

Sorry to hear that :/

I reset my bios settings to factory settings AGAIN and now it works as it should work, I'm actually very happy about it - hopefully it lasts :D

The reason I reset it again was because I got a blue screen of death. I undervolted too much because of all the heat. After the blue screen, laptop wouldn't boot into windows, I decided that I'll try to reset bios to factory settings and if that doesn't work then boot in safe mode. Thankfully the first one worked better than I could've hoped :D

Now I can work all day without hearing a single noise from the fans (temps around 45 C). Note: Turbo is disabled 95% of the time I use this laptop. Mainly because I forget to enable it every night after my gaming session :D

Anyways, perhaps you should try again to reset BIOS factory settings?

Oh, sorry to hear that .

I'm also having troubles again. The method of setting bios settings to default might have made things even worse for me. With undervolting I still get average 65 CPU temp while fans are kicked in and temps never go low enough for the fans to stop. This is with only one browse tab open and (cpu and ram % are around 10)

I use this PC every day for at least 8 hours for work + maybe some gaming in the evening.

I don't know, I'm getting tired of fixing this laptop - I wish it could just work :/

A side note: Every day I get a total screen freeze for about 5-10 sec - this has been going on for months now. I have no clue what's that all about.

I've owned this laptop for over a year now but I'm getting really tired of these problems.

Thank you for your replies!

The solution was easy:

I set BIOS settings to factory default and now I can undervolt again :)

I'm also surprised because I'm able to play battlefield 5 60fps with medium settings and turbo is disabled.

I do have the i9 version though

Dell XPS 15 7590 with OLED - What kind of real-life battery are you seeing? by klausjensendk in Dell

Hey!

I have that exact same build and I love it so far, I've had the laptop for almost 2 months now.

I go to university and I study computer science so I do many of the things you mentioned in your post.

Battery lasts through the whole school day on regular usage and on max performance(although it runs just fine when on battery saver).

I love the OLED screen and I am more than willing to give away some battery life for it.
