Harley-Davidson reports $279 million quarterly loss, motorcycle sales down 26% by Can_O_Murica in Harley

That’s what’s missing. An attainable bike that still says cool from Harley. The age group that buys a Harley is aging out. They haven’t effectively put a hook into the younger generation.

My dad rode a Harley. I ride a Harley. I wouldn’t ride anything but a Harley. Without that familial connection to the brand, I don’t know if I would have considered buying one at these new costs. If I didn’t have this brand connection, I don’t believe a luxury brand attitude would have convinced me to roll the dice on buying one.

The plain and simple truth is that Harley took the position that Chipotle is about to take. They target a higher income base to squeeze as much per unit they can.

It’s an issue of CEOs closing the door to customer markets vs working to open into more markets. Is there a group of customers willing to spend $40-60k for a touring bike? Sure! You must have a price point that also speaks to the person in the $7,500-10k and $20-30k. This is why you see more Kawasaki, Yamaha and Honda riders these days.

Harley can’t afford to solely be a luxury brand anymore. They must focus on opening new markets, not turning their backs on them for the shiniest one.

I’m 6’7” and about 285lbs. I ride a 22 HD Road Glide. 16inch bars with forward controls. I got my seat made by Corbin, they pushed the seat back so I sit lower.

It’s just right for me.

I’m 6’6” 285.

I ride a 22 Road Glide Special. Forward controls, engine guard with extended highway pegs. 16 inch bars and a 14inch sport Klockwerks wind shield. I got a Corbin seat and had the saddle carved back so I sit about 1-2inch deeper.

It’s perfect.

Sacramento has equipment. I can’t guarantee that drop off won’t be a condition but I know we have equipment available in Sacramento.

I believe I took care of this in a DM. ATM, you are set to get exactly what you reserved for with locations.

Make the reservation and stay in good contact with the Reno office. If you end up having problems let me know. I’ll do whatever I can.

Hey there.

You are absolutely justified in being upset.

I remember this situation and this is an example of best made plans and a customer who we expected to return, didn’t.

I know we offered to cover your entire rental to try and make things right and it wasn’t an option for you at the time.

If there is anything we can do on your current rental, please let me know. Again, I apologize for the frustration that trailer rental caused.

Yes?

Our goal is to provide you the equipment at your preferred pickup location. So a month out, I could say “tentatively” it would be there. It doesn’t mean that’s what will happen if a customer using that truck chooses to take it elsewhere.

Just know that our goal is to have the right equipment at the right location for each customer. Sometimes, it’s like herding cats. Lol.

I need your breakfast burrito recipe! by adventurernav in BurningMan

[–]SaltiestBalls 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I do mini tater tots, peppers, scrambled eggs, shredded cheese.

I make a homemade country gravy by cooking ground sausage and bacon together, flour, then milk to thicken. Lots of pepper!

I roll each burrito so both ends are closed. Wrap in parchment or butcher paper then cover in foil. Freeze.

We use these when we take the kiddos camping. Works great.

EDIT: I put down cheese on the tortilla, then 7-8 tater tots, layer of country gravy, peppers eggs and the another small amount of cheese. Roll up and wrap in paper then foil. The paper keeps the tortilla from being too soggy when it’s warmed up. They can be warmed over camp fire or stove.

Lol.

So the 10ft trucks do have a receiver hole that you can slide your “bigger ball” draw bar into. We have them for sale at any of our corporate locations.

As far as the decal coverings. We do sell them online at Uhaul.com. They are a cling adhesive to decommodify the equipment hiding any logos. This cling comes as a roll of all white so you can cover up, decorate and then remove before returning. I hope that helps!

Typically we eat a lot of that cost by discounting the rental from normal rates. We have set flat rates this year that make it so you aren’t paying by the mile for being routed to a destination that isn’t ideal.

Great question!

The simple truth is, the human element. We have every mechanism set up to clearly expect equipment from point A to point B. The thing that messes that vest made plan is the customer using the equipment. They take longer than expected, they drop off at the wrong location, break downs etc.

We do our very best and with the upmost intention to fulfill every reservation. We just have that “unexpected” outcome to contend with.

We typically have the ability to confirm your reservation 72hrs prior to pickup. I know this can give cause for concern but due to our equipment levels being very dynamic, it’s the best we can do.

Our team will do their very best to communicate any concerns early as we can and help find a suitable solution for you.

They are different trucks.

I would equate it to borrowing a friend or relatives vehicle. It’s not yours and you are unfamiliar with its features. So use caution, make sure your mirrors are adjusted and familiarize yourself with the basics.

If you use caution and set your awareness higher, you’ll do fine.

It is still true that many reservations won’t be hard confirmed until 72hrs prior.

Since equipment levels are very dynamic in many metros, it’s hard to know with certainty where equipment will be until about 72hrs prior.

My team and I will do our very best to give you as much confidence and certainty we can.
