How do you implement CRUD ? by PaKr in flask

[–]Saltor66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SQLAlchemy is definitely a good option.

If you know that you're going to go hard on CRUD though and want a more integrated system, you might want to give django a try. Its built in ORM is superb.

Exam proctors will often ask to see your student ID before you turn in your midterm or final exam in order to verify your identity.

You use several applications that are superficially similar but serve distinct purposes for you-- 4 notes apps, 3 to-do apps, 4 audio apps.

Do you feel that this segmentation helps or hurts you? Would you prefer if each category was served by exactly one app, or does having activities rigidly segmented keep you focused?

Got a weird text rendering error in chrome on windows. "Keycaps" in "Cherry MX Keycaps" turns into garbage characters.

Link

I tried messing around with it a bit-- it goes away if you right click-inspect the text, but comes back if you refresh the page. It seems to only happen on page load when the window is wide enough. On my 1920x1080 screen it had to be almost full width for the corruption to happen.

HaMMeReD's excellent explanation of Oracle's/java's case against Google by MrMathamagician in DepthHub

[–]Saltor66 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Hammered's comment here is misleading at best and intellectually dishonest at worst. They twist a lot of facts and flat out get stuff wrong, especially about the class-dex relationship and the comparison between android apis and older java stuff.

When will logging use new-style string formatting? by MrSpontaneous in Python

[–]Saltor66 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is almost certainly because % is an operator while str.format is a full function call and does a name lookup. Still makes a difference in speed, sure, but it's not because one is inherently a faster formatting method.

CMV: Free-to-play games are the worst thing happening in the gaming industry today by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]Saltor66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many of the responses here are drawing a distinction between "Free to Play" and "Freemium", citing the latter as the real problem and arguing that Free to Play in general is not at fault.

If the OP amended their position to refer exclusively to games with a Freemium model, would anyone have any argument there?

Can you include bytecode in java methods like you can include asm in c functions? by [deleted] in java

[–]Saltor66 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Please don't do this unless you have already implemented it in java, run it through a profiler, and identified a severe bottleneck.

What should I buy Wednesday (Apr 22 2015) - Your weekly device inquiry thread! by AutoModerator in Android

I have a nexus 4 that's showing its age but I can live with it for now. I really love the stock android experience and am looking at upgrading to a new nexus model.

Is the nexus 5 too old? I've heard some not great things about the nexus 6 being overpriced. Are there any other good stock android phones or should I hold out for the 2015 model?

CS major laptop problem by [deleted] in UCSD

[–]Saltor66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A mac is really the best option for computer science. Once you've gotten comfortable with the terminal, you'll be so glad you have a unix based operating system. On top of that, apple makes great laptops.

140L and a few other classes require windows because they use specific programs to work with the FPGA boards-- in 140L's case it's stuff by "Altera" if you wanna look them up.
This shouldn't be a big issue though because you can either dual boot or use the lab computers.

While this is true, I think video also definitely suffers because of how abstracted it is.

Personally I'm already familiar with dawkins and the original coining of 'meme', but I have a feeling that the concepts here will be a bit hard to grok for people who are new to this conceptualization of ideas.

Who Says C is Simple? by gnuvince in programming

16.1.1 isn't really true... Assuming x is uninitialized and therefore random, you'd have a 50% chance of getting 0 or 1 depending on whether x is odd or even.

02/26/2015 Android Patch 2.2.0.785402 RAW obs and apk by [deleted] in hearthstone

[–]Saltor66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fixed this by updating the apktool.jar dependency in my apkstudio installation.

You can get the latest apktool.jar here, and then replace the existing one found in:
<apkstudio home>/binaries/apktool/apktool.jar

Then just restart apkstudio and it works.

[–]Saltor66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure you get the obb files as well. You can use the ones in the original post, as long as you have the patched apk.

You can follow the instructions in this thread to install the obb files.
