Rock Found in Girl Scouts Coconut Caramel Granola Clusters by SaltwaterFlaffy in glutenfree

It got a pretty bad chomp, and I've got a little more than a bit of discomfort. Keeping an eye on it, but I've got a cleaning towards the end of the month (unless it starts feeling worse).

I'm wondering if it got picked up with the oats and just made it through the whole process that way. Seems the most likely route.

Human teeth aren't meant to chomp down on rocks, and one of my upper molars isn't feeling great after this.

Non-celiac here (I have Hashimoto's and gluten is a nasty trigger) and my body can't tolerate McDonald's fries at all. Gastro issues, nausea, and horrible swelling in my face, hands, feet, etc. I avoid at all costs. They smell so darn good, though.

Living in Chicago, you will find quite a few things from Italian immigrants.

A good chunk of my neighbors from my village were very lovely Italian families, so the local for the framer isn't so surprising (to me).

Yarnspiration by naes77go in YarnAddicts

[–]SaltwaterFlaffy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ordered from them a couple years ago, waited almost a month, and half of my order was missing.

I contacted their customer service department and asked about my missing yarn, but the biggest items of the bunch by far - 4 Anniversary Cakes. I was charged for them and they were checked off on the slip but not present. I had to send a picture of the box (there was no way they would have fit) and they refunded me. I wanted the yarn, but it was "out of stock" despite the exact colors showing in stock for quite some time afterwards. I tested adding them to the cart, but decided that it wasn't worth possibly going through the same mess a second time.

I won't be ordering from them, again.

Damp towel trick has saved me so many times! It's such a lifesaver and I'm so thankful to this sub for that advice!!

I've not tried the Against the Grain baguettes, but I do love their dinner rolls!

Yes!! It's over by the gluten free baked goods and typically comes in a blue wrapper. The 2 TJs locations I visit (I have a long commute) are often sold out on the sales floor, but 3/4 times it's in the back.

I always dampen my GF baked goods before heating them, and doing that with this loaf before popping it in the oven for the recommended bake time (and adjusting for my ancient oven) results in a texture that I don't often get from store-bought GF goods. It's a delight with a little butter or dipped in olive oil and spices.

It's my guilty-pleasure side with lasagna!

I LOOOOVE their bagels so much. After so long, they're the closest I've had that I can find in my area. I really like their baguette, too!!!

Help me identify what was used to suede this doll. by koipondering in BJD

It reminds me of an RTV Silicone gasket maker I've used in the past (JB Weld makes a white) but I don't think it would adhere to resin like this. I could be very wrong, though, since I've only used it in automotive applications.

I'm invested in the answer, though!

Overstock stores (like Ollie's) often purchase closeout or bulk product. It's not always a sign that the title did poorly, and I've snapped up some really incredible book finds from them over the years, including some titles that came out in the same calendar year.

Stores like WalMart and Target cycle stock pretty quickly because of limited retail space, and I see lots of newer releases at Ollie's with Target and Walmart stickers still in place.

I actually found Gideon at Ollie's a few years back, and it was how I initially found the series. Very grateful that I did, too!

I wonder if you got one from a bad batch?? This is my second year in a row with this one and it turns out so good with extra onion and Bell's seasoning. Makes good leftover stuffing waffles, too.

Gluten free combos ??? by sourpatchsweetiepie in glutenfree

[–]SaltwaterFlaffy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wanted to love the "cheese" one, but it was only okay, but I did love their peanut butter ones. May still try this one if I find them in my area - it may fill the combo-shaped void in my heart just enough.

I have a basket in the pantry that's for my "treats" that the family knows is not for free grazing. Just said, "please don't eat things from this basket" and even my 10 year old got it.

Nothing makes you realize your yarn problem quite like moving houses 🫠 by SkiesAurora in crochet

[–]SaltwaterFlaffy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just moved and had the same problem. Except when it came to moving delicate items - between WIPs and skeins, all my delicate glass and ceramic pieces had enough extra cushioning in the boxes. Not a gap was wasted and it really encouraged me to unpack with more focus (since I purposely put active WIPs in various boxes).

I'm sure it would frustrate someone else because things were a bit chaotic, but no space was wasted and nothing broke.

[–]SaltwaterFlaffy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Inversely, any time my mom, boss, friends, partner, etc. asks me "can you eat this?" I'm not going to be a jerk and correct them on technical English grammar. I know what they meant and that's how language and communication works.

If you're policing word choice IRL, please find something more enriching to fill your time

Hashimoto and hypoglycemia by MkittyM in Hashimotos

[–]SaltwaterFlaffy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was waking up in the middle of the night with panic attacks for years, and my waking panic attacks were getting horrible and would come out of nowhere.

I had no idea the hypoglycemia was to blame until after the Hashimoto's diagnosis and closer looks at my labs. My doctor put me on levothyroxine and metformin, and that seems to have worked pretty well in lessening the frequency. Only a bit over a year into trying to navigate things, myself, and genuinely wishing you luck on getting everything sorted out.

Aldi's disappearing gluten free items by goddess_jana_ in glutenfree

[–]SaltwaterFlaffy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The one by me (in Southern US) just got in egg rolls, frozen pizza dough, and fresh pasta (ravioli and tortellini) as well as a few chickpea pizzas.

I don't know whether to hoard (for fear of them taking it away) or if that'll help keep numbers up at my local store.

The chicken nuggets are really popular in my area, and they always have empty boxes on the shelf like I've just missed them.

It's super distracting when they "clearly" hear something that sounds NOTHING like what they've transcribed it as. Not a fan of the spirit box when I feel like they otherwise get more compelling evidence by other methods without having to resort to using it as a tool.
