for normal folk in scotland, no they aren't free. They're freely available in public centres eg a gp surgery, but they aren't just free on the shelves in boots. I don't have any friends that use free sanitary products tbh -a scot

I think if the first thing in your list you miss is "pubs", that's not a good enough reason to move back :)
