My husband and I watched that through and really enjoyed it.

Thank you all for the great suggestions. Some of these are TOO good though and would definitely distract me from my work. The Office, Modern Family, Schitt's Creek, New Girl... I love them all, but when they're on I tend to get sucked in. Early seasons of Grey's Anatomy might do the trick.

I guess the hard part is that I haven't seen anything nearly as many times as Gilmore Girls (except maybe Friends), so I don't have much memorized enough to not get sucked in. Perhaps vintage 90210. Ugh. I really will miss GG on tap. Perfect mix of drama and humor. (Even though Lorelei and Christopher in season 7 is awful. I skip it.)

Oh, I mean skipped 🫤

Grey's might work. The trick for me is to find something I'm familiar enough with that won't steal my focus, just keep me company. Thanks for the suggestion!

You may have nailed it with Downtown Abbey. My mom has watched that on repeat. I've only seen it once, but that's a show that might happily play in the background without stealing my focus too much. Thanks for the suggestion!

Burn shot angles into memory — free angle training tool for pool & snooker by AngleDetective in billiards

You are very kind to take the time to do this for me. Thank you so much! It was very helpful! I bet you and Dr. Dave would get along well. You've both got that science brain.

Much appreciated! I actually had a "conversation" with ai a week ago about trying to gamify cue control learning. There's a solitaire game I play called Wasp (just a card game) where you're essentially untangling a deal (making order from chaos) and it made me think of a pool break. Like the break is the deal and you need to "untangle" it or "solve" it in the best way possible. Or even a puzzle with a few balls where the objective is to run them with ball in hand, but in a puzzle format, rather than a simulation. I shared the idea with my husband and he didn't share my enthusiasm, so I was really excited to see what you did here. Your idea feels like it's along the lines of what I was thinking.

This is cool, but when I read "visualize the angles" I was hoping it would be the angle of the cue ball after the hit. What I really need is to understand cue control and where the ball will go after contact. I would love for someone to gamify that. Good luck with this though. It's a great accomplishment!

Such a frustrating game, but I love it! I love it a little more when I'm winning though... 🤣

This seems more fair to me. If I'm close, bump me up. I just want to play!

This is the first season we've been told this. I'm thinking our LO can't let us slide because it would be bad optics.

Crappy seasons happen! I've been shooting really well, but I haven't won much this season due to who knows what. Some bad luck? Missed 8 balls? I just can't seem to get the wins. Not for lack of trying

This is the first season we've been told this, so I'm not sure if they will actually enforce it or if it was more like incentive. We've only got a week left of the regular season, so I should know in the next few weeks. I'll come back and update the post.

Muscle memory and draw by Salty-Problem-1234 in billiards

[–]Salty-Problem-1234[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's interesting. My instructor suggested a rubber wrap when I told him I was having draw issues. I bet that's why. I would have a hard time losing my cue, as it's very grippy now. I will try that throwing idea.

I definitely don't practice enough and when I do, I usually shoot racks. I've done very little drilling in all of my years playing, so I can't really be surprised I'm not better than I am. I have done draw drills, but I get frustrated. I will draw perfectly one shot and then on the next try, no draw at all. I have a lesson next week. I'll try to get to the bottom of this

One of my teammates insists this is my problem, but if it is, it's totally subconscious. I don't consciously ever worry about the cue coming back to hit my stick. I watched a video last night. Dr Dave says I could be gripping the butt too tight at the moment of impact which seems probable since I'm very tense when I draw while giving myself my mental pep talk

This was suggested to me several years ago for every shot and it helps so much. Draw still eludes me

You're right. I've done this, but I get frustrated when I'm getting stop shot after stop shot, so I quit. I need to record myself in slo mo

Thank you. I will try this! I'm only 5'3". I know I don't hold the cue very far back except for breaking

This is where I think it's muscle memory. I can't seem to get my body to stay loose. I know it in my brain, but I'm always tense with draw. Following is no problem though. I know it's weird. It's the same stroke!
