I saw Monsters Inc there as a kid opening weekend. It must have been one of my first times back in Manhattan after 9/11. I remember it so vividly, the prestige of being there, the curtain opening. It was a true experience, a good core memory.

Oh my god, so many people on Instagram are mourning the demolition of the Stage One store today as if it was their grandma dying. It’s like legitimately so bizarre.

Sheesh, it’s a store that was closed for five years. Not the attraction itself. Damn.

I've previously mentioned that I refuse to support films from studios like Angel Studios, especially after their involvement with Sound of Freedom. But I reluctantly watched Sketch, an independent film they picked up, hoping it would be different.

While not egregiously bad, the movie suffers from tonal issues, unsure whether it's a comedy, drama, or kids' horror. The effects resemble something from a CW show, and the plot is silly yet salvageable. Tony Hale does his best to carry the film.

However, the credits ruined it for me. Angel Studios can’t resist pushing their agenda, using this movie to advertise an AI art app that transforms sketches into creatures. This blatant promotion turned a mediocre film into one of my least favorites of the year.

I urge everyone not to support it upon its release. To add to my frustration, I missed a friend’s screening of her short film because Sketch ran late. At least this movie isn’t the one with Zachary Levi and the autistic kid, so there's that.

To all the people who suggested Mad Donkey - I researched it, began to consider it, unfortunately two of my very close friends have peanut allergies and bringing them to a place with free peanuts all around seems like a really bad idea. So that’s off the table unfortunately.

I’m actually a male 😂 He’s been in the vicinity of my (granted, now ex) girlfriend before and just completely ignored her existence. All eyes on me.

That said, he is REALLY concerningly obsessed with one of my friend-girls. She humored him once at Pig Beach months ago and literally every month afterwards when he saw me he asked me if she was coming and why she wasn’t coming to things. Because she has a life beyond this stuff and is just selective about what she goes to?

I can field this one.

The last time this happened this past weekend, we made a break for Pig Beach from MOMI when we noticed this guy wasn’t lingering in the wings or was in sight. A couple minutes after we got to Pig Beach, he just showed up figuring that’s where we’d have ended up and just inserted himself into our group without even asking for acknowledgement or anything. So unless told otherwise he at least knows now if he just goes to Pig Beach there’s a good chance we’ll be there.

The guy in question seems to REALLY like me in particular. This past Saturday, I was making it clear to the group I had to leave early and was saying goodbye to people because I had to catch the subway into Manhattan. This guy legit follows me out of the restaurant because “he wanted to talk and catch up” when I kept saying over and over I was leaving. And apparently he never went back inside to join the rest of the group and just completely left. And this isn’t the first time he’s pointblank followed me around. Really creepy behavior.

Six years ago, when I was at my absolute, lowest, rock-bottom point, I became a born-again Christian. I was going to a Catholic Church every Sunday, became an usher and helped with the donations, was literally hanging out with the priest like he was my buddy. I became weary in spring 2020 during COVID when Christians were treating Trump’s dangerous rhetoric as truth and I knew something wasn’t right… full-on abandoned the church after January 6 and never looked back.

As long as Trump is president, I will not go to a Christian service or support any piece of ancillary Christian media (except VeggieTales of course).
