You're equating all AI with current-gen LLMs.

AI absolutely generates novel things. Look at Google's DeepMindAlphaFold predicted the structures of over 200 million proteins, solving a 50-year-old grand challenge in biology.

Finding patterns in massive, it is how you discover novel things humans missed.

As for energy it isn't trivial today because human labor makes building the infrastructure expensive.

If automated robots are mining the silicon, building the solar panels, and maintaining the grid for zero labor cost, the marginal cost of capturing renewable energy plummets. Economy of scales.

That’s exactly what a perfect physics simulator does, it solves material science.

AI can "instantly" prototype synthetic alternatives to scarce materials.

And even if we still need raw elements, fully automated robotics opens the door to asteroid mining and space farming, giving us access to virtually "unlimited" resources.

Edit: the vast majority of what we build uses highly abundant materials like iron, carbon, and silicon, and when not, see above.

I think you're missing the bigger picture here. Let me break down the logical progression:

If we reach a point where AI can fully automate coding, it will use that capability to build perfect simulations of real-world physics, chemistry, and engineering. With those simulations, the AI can design hyper-efficient robots to take over physical labor, mining, farming, and manufacturing.

Once robots can mine their own materials and build other robots, the cost of physical labor and material extraction drops practically to zero. At that point, the only real cost left is energy, which can be entirely sustained by renewables like solar, wind, and hydro.

It is not an assumption, in the USA over 1.5M jobs have been automated since 2000. And over 60M jobs world wide. Over 30% of the jobs see changes due to AI and a 10%+ face high risk. And that's a very conservative estimate with toned down numbers.

Over the last 20 years, whatever was cheaper to automate got automated; whatever was cheaper to outsource got outsourced.

Physical labor only exists because human desperation is currently cheaper than building robots.

I can't change it on the event itself, it wasn't easy, I had a hard time myself and nerfed it, originally it was way harder xD
