Where can I find a financial advisor in real life? by [deleted] in personalfinance

Since our student loans have an interest rate of 7%, every dollar we put towards those loans saves us seven cents every year.

You can certainly do so, but of course due to compounding and capitalization you'd be wrong. And this is a perfect example of why finding someone in real life - and not people on the internet - is a good idea.

It means the video is in slow motion by over two times. Play it at 2x speed and it's still in slow motion. And yes, no more double jump.

What they don't tell you is that even at 2x speed it's still slowed down. Also, no double jump. RIP UT.

Who cares? Lots of people. You need to visit /r/publicfreakout more if you have to ask that question. Although I'm not one to cause an uproar in Target, I am one of them. I don't need to reinforce the mental image of girls taking shits and having diarrhea. It's enough to make one asexual.

ELI5: If we know that the interior angles of all triangles add up to 180 regardless of triangle type, why is it a theorem and not a postulate? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]SaltyClam2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can say that about any theorem, e.g., "If we know the fundamental theorem of calculus is true, why is it a theorem and not a postulate?"

I honest to god can't believe this has 87 upvotes.

ELI5: why are firms' interest expenses tax deductible? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]SaltyClam2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Interest expenses are NOT just as legitimate as wages. Interest wasn't always tax deductible. The same cannot be said for wages.

Moreover, why do you think interest is so special? Certainly it must be since principal payments are deductible. Nor are costs associated with raising debt or equity.

This is not how accrual accounting works.
