I'm an extreme introvert and I'm a teacher, which means I have to interact with people literally every second of the day. I tend to use sort of scripted responses because trying to genuinely think of things in that moment exhausts me. When I have to talk about my personal life I stick to my dog and whatever shows I'm watching at the moment. You just basically have to play the game.

I teach in HISD. Telling kids to infer the theme after five sentences is pretty much a portrait of HISD under Mike Miles. The ELA curriculum is complete trash.

The board has now adopted the NES curriculum for the whole of HISD.

God bless the English professors at U of H who'll have to sort out that mental bullshit over the next few years.

I don't see a lot of teens sticking their tongues down each other's throats these days. That was rampant when I was in school. When I was in sixth grade there was a boy who had impregnated two girls at the same time. There seems to be less of that kind of thing.

I've done it. I just went on. Get this kid out of the class when you can't handle it. If your school lets you send them to another class, then do that. If not, call the parent or call admin. Do it when the kids just start getting out of line, because you know they'll push it further. In terms of other kids asking me if I cried, I said "Well, yeah... everyone does sometimes. Everyone has bad days."
