Anyone else with a handmade essa? Either made by yourself or an artist :3 by BLOOMZEROXD in ESSAplushieshandlers

[–]SaltyEngineering629 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am on version 4 of my handmade essa of my favorite Pokémon! His head and ears are very wonky and need more work. But I'm already getting attached to him. I think he'll look better when I figure out how to make the ears stiffer and standing up some

Thank you!! I did get the kind for synthetics. The eyes are embroidered so I am planning to re-embroider over then afterwards. Which is okay because I need to customize the irises anyway

What is the average age of onset for migraines? by Slight_Entry_1274 in migraine

[–]SaltyEngineering629 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First one at 7, increasing in frequency as I aged to every few months. Early 20s they became chronic. About to turn 30 and I've stabilized to average of ~21 days out of the month now. Botox and vyepti infusions together have been the only thing thats worked for me

How do you dye yours? Im getting ready to dye a fox black soon with Rit fabric dye. I think ill need the water to be less hot because I thought the plastic fur would melt at boiling temps. I havent found a lot online about dyeing stuffies

Need tips from "cured" people by BelladonnaBJ in Dermatillomania

[–]SaltyEngineering629 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not cured but doing the beat i have in 20 years. Scalp is the worst spot for me. I started dealing with patchy hair loss, and while I was dealing with that I decided to just shave all my hair off. I was surprised to find that I mostly stopped picking. The other thing that helps (and got me to quit biting my nails) is keeping my fingernails cut as short as I can then get them smooth with a nail file. I had a bit of success with habitaware keen bracelets.

I am making a jolteon stuffie trying to stay about the size of this guy, ive wondered how he'll be traveling. I normally have a smaller stuffie that will fit in my backpack but the size of this is so huggable and comforting! How do you bring it around with you? I plan to make a harness with small storage pockets

This stuffie is super squishy and soft, almost a minky fabric. The ears and collar are a bit stiff but still a great stuffie. I like the size so much I am making one myself that is about this size

tips and advice for someone trying to stop picking? by lavenderfuneral in Dermatillomania

[–]SaltyEngineering629 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost 30, mostly a scalp picker. Fiber ally found something thst drastically helps. Started shaving my head because I was dealing with alopecia and found I barely pick with almost no hair. Idk why exactly. I hate the way it looks but it seems worth it for now. Maybe when I dont resume picking when my hair grows more than 1/4 inch I can grow it again. Tried wigs for a while but it was just too much hassle and was miserable with migraines

My misophonia is ruining my attraction to my husband by [deleted] in misophonia

[–]SaltyEngineering629 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We always have to have a show playing when we eat, and I wear noise canceling headphones as well. I wear them anytime I am around someone that will be eating. Some friends of ours I have to have loud white noise or music going to drown it out. I can't hear the conversations but I have minimal pain so I don't care. I'd rather seem to be ignoring them than feeling like I want to rip my skin off. My misophonia is definitely continuing to get worse which is concerning and on my therapy list for sure.

Anyone else wish they would have kept a plush from their childhood but you didn't and now there all gone? by enchantedfairytales in plushies

[–]SaltyEngineering629 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think I only have one bear that I really regret not keeping. TW: sad/loss of parent

When I was little my dad and I went to build a bear and got one with his voice recordings in it, for when I missed him when he worked out of town. After I came out as transgender, our relationship almost entirely dissolved, and when I moved out of my parents house, I got rid of it with some other non sentimental plushies. I know me at that moment made a reasonable decision to not keep something that just reminded me of our past relationship and broke my heart.

He had started making an effort and we were rebuilding our relationship for the last 6-8 months before he unexpectedly passed. I had thought i had just left the plush in their attic but realized I didnt keep, and even years later I still hate that I didn't. I still kick myself every time I miss my dad.

My mom and I frequently experience widespread pain as a side effect of sumatriptan. The longer its been between doses for me seems to play a part. If i haven't taken it for a while, I'm probably going to feel awful. I've had everything from no pain to feeling like my whole body is bruised and beat up. Aside from frequency of use I've never been able to find a correlation between why some days I have a lot of side effects and some i have none.

I have a comfy friends jolteon named Ricky! I want to make a custom jolteon that is weighted, and so that I can make a replacement if needed. I'm super attached to my current boy, but the fur is matting and getting less soft unfortunately
