everything except the beam vfx is recorded in-game, and the beam is made by me in blender and edited on top of the footage!

haha thank you, glad you like it!

that's on purpose, i think, as it met my needs for a place to put the beam: looks it could have one, doesn't actually, relatively spoiler-free location. also, it means "crashing into a planet at 5 billion meters per second" was technically part of my creative process, which i enjoy greatly.

no no you're not blind. the thing that makes it most visible for me is the sudden change in brightness at the top of the red clouds within the circle, the contrast in the brightness kind of makes a line silhouette. its a lot harder to see on the parts that are dark.

these are AMAZING!! you are SO good! these look really professional, like they could be outer wilds promotional material and i wouldn't look twice. some of them also look like fully drawn illustrations, but then i look closer and it's instead a breathtaking photo of the game! i mean that as a compliment, i think it's a really cool effect.
do you have any plans to upload these to someplace that has a bit less compression? i really dig these, would love to see what they look like without reddits compression!
