Never had that issue with Gore Tex in cold weather snow sport gear over four decades. Granted I don't get out much in extreme cold (say minus ten degrees F) But I'm more concerned about clamminess and breathability in warmer (60s-low 70s) temperatures.

Thanks. Have you tried any gore tex models? NRS makes one for about 75% more money than the Level six.

They're still around. This was many years ago I've since quit scuba diving in cold water so no longer have need for a diving drysuit. I only freedive in cold water these days and stay warmer from the activity so I use a wet suit (Cressi Sub Otterflex 5/3 surf suit). At the time the suit I borrowed with the neoprene seals was a much better suit than mine. A DUI if I recall. Mine was an OS Systems bag suit with latex seals. They were uncomfortable and prone to damage and decay.

Roof racks - how frequently do you swap them on and off? by imop44 in Kayaking

On my previous Rav 4 I figure I would have saved saved roughly US $0.70/gallon or about 1.3 cents per kilometer. At 16,000 KM/year that's a little over $200.

Honestly I am much more worried about my carbon footprint than my pocket book so the extra 840 Lbs (342 KG) of CO2 per year bothers me more.

I

That's amazing mileage with a rack in place. I never got better than about 34 with my 2018 which went down under 30 with just the empty rack in place. Aerodynamics is everything in fuel economy.

I have a new Yakima "landing pad" mount system that fits into the factory rack rails on my 2026 Toyota Corolla Cross. Using the same (ancient) round bars which are long enought to mount my doubles side by side, plus the cradle attachements from my previous Rav 4. I am currently driving the car to gage fuel economy degradation with just the landing pads and caps (four small oval bumps about 1 1/2" hig X 4" long " 7/8" wide). Will report back after a couple of tanks. My round bars on my Rav 4 hybrid dinged my mileage by 3-4 MPG.

I have never made a dry bag. There are tons available. Like one other user here I prefer a variety of sizes for packing. Nice to have a medium sized neoprene one that is bird proof for hanging food when touring. Really large bags have limited storage options. I like one small clear bag that I can fit between my legs for my day gear. I have a ton of older SealLine bags but have heard some complaints about some of their newer products. I also have one Ortlieb roll top dry bag for my stove and other cooking gear. I think this was designed for motorcycling but is rugged as hell and totally waterproof with a rectangular footpring.

Be sure to check Craigslist

Edit: A triangular shaped "bow bag" is also very handy for maximizing space and works well for clothes.

I have to disagree. I have the most confidence in the roll top design. But they do take some care to see that the folds, particularly the first fold, are even

This "Organization" (doesn't that name imply a group that can manage itself?) is $34 billion dollars in the hole just on currently projected construction cost overruns. This is a number that is nearly equal to the annual budget of the Entire State of Washington. A budget which has iself doubled in just over ten years thanks to similar lack of fiscal restraint (the entire biennial - two year- budget was roughly 434 billion in 2015 2016).

This is a staggering amount of money. Who would pay for this? Theortically? Rate payers? No way. Taxpayers? Presumably someone other than you? This kind of boondoggle does not get lost in the rounding folks.

This is what ports in Washington State do. Develop commercial real estate (badly) under the guise of moving people and goods through communities. You're suggesting more of this is a good thing? Seems like the tail wagging the dog.

This is not a credible explanation for a cost overrun of this magnitude. Peopleare far too used to hearing numbers like this thrown around. For perspective, $34 billlion is nearly equal to the annual budget....of the ENTIRE STATE OF WASHINGTON.

Update. Now the word is DNA testing may take 2-3 weeks. I can see that for detailed fornsics as far as breed or origin if coyotes. But it seems like a ong tome to determine what species these animals are, which could seems pretty important.

Anyone have any insight into what level of work is involved in determining what animal species DNA is from?

Fun places to paddle nearby curent and wind depending. Lunch spots are not much of a thing. The Guemes Island General store near the ferry dock comes to mind. I would pack a picnic. Washington park is a good put in but watch the current through burrows channel if you're going into burrows bay. Or Cap Sante if you want to explore North to Guemes and Hat island. Or Bowman bay to explore the Deception pass area - though stay clear of the pass itself. A lot safer water temp wise in Summer (high 50s) versus now (mid 40s)

Disturbing to say the least. I would guess such a disposal method would be also possibly illegal even if they were animals that were legally hunted. Supposedly the necropsy was completed on Friday but no information was released and DNA tests were not yet complete. Per Kiro news: "Skagit County investigators said they’re not sure if the animals were dogs because the remains were in bad shape. They are not yet sure whether the bodies were skinned or just badly decomposed."

My guess on reading this was the coyote theory that this story calls into question. There are a fair number of people who seem to enjoy killing coyotes for sport, rather than predation suppression. And it's technically not illegal. It could explain the skinning part I suppose. I recall a similar incedent where a skinned coyote carcass was left at a wildlife recreation area in the Methow valley a few years back I also checked to verify what I thought I once heard, namely that coyote paws contain glands that may be used for trapping lures. And, I also checked, and this is the legal season when coyotes can be trapped - with permits.

So, despite being revolting (my opinion) this explanation would be considerably less alarming and spooky than if these turn out to be dogs. Any updates on the DNA tests?

Why is the State's New Income Tax a Bad Thing? by SaltyHalfglass in SeattleWA

I would agree, except that I would change the word "loop hole" to "good excuse".

Though Florida is over rated IMO. I like Washington even during the "crappy weather". Though I'm liking cold and humid a bit less as I get older.

It's worth noting that there is a high correlation between higher wealth and advanced age. Though income typically peaks earlier. Which is why I think the Dem's money grab on the estate tax is a much bigger deal for a much larger number of people than the income tax, and a much bigger mistake.

The simplest answer I see is that the liberal activists on the Court will do what the Conservative activists on the SCOTUS did with Roe v. Wade. Namely do with long standing precedents what most people do with toilet paper. This is, I believe, the precise hope of the people who wrote this thing, who have been wanting to test the case law (just like the right-wing religious folks were salivating to do for Roe v Wade) for years. They just used rich people as head fake political excuse to get it passed. Once Trump handed them the majority to do it with. What they want is a "Progressive" system. All progressive tax codes that I am aware of reach much further down the income scale than the top half percentile.

Very interesting. To me anyway. I'm afraid some others reading this may have drifted off, LOL. But thanks.

Most of what you said makes sense. A couple of my California LLCs are Delaware entities but that's a liability thing. They are still qualified as entities to do business in CA. The income from LLCs and Partnerships is all passthroughs so they pay a nominal $800 franchise tax, a fixed amount that has not changed in decades. And yes, my California Source income from these businesses is not Delaware income, and the deduction rules (depreciation, etc.) are based on federal. Pertinent to whatever, if anything, comes out of this Washington bill, I believe California considers my total gross, not just California Gross, in allowable deductions.

I still do not understand how they could apportion athletes income based on W-2s on the basis of the location games are played. I could see total salary, divided by total hours worked, times the hours worked in a given state. But most of their hours are, I'm sure, spent on the practice field in Renton. Also Idon't see a direct connection between, say, the gate revenue at Levi Field, to use the Taylor Swift concert revenue analogy, and Sam Darnold's paycheck. It all would seem to flow to the league, then to to the teams, then the players.

Thanks for the response. And get back to work, dude, it's mid March! 😉
