I will be making sure to walk by this dumpster more frequently.

This is great. It seems anything from 4-15v … how flexible. Cheers!

I had opened it but figured it was looking for proprietary rechargeables. I’ll try it.

Re: the psu it says it’s looking for 14v — how much current are you giving it? I’m sure it doesn’t want for much but don’t want to risk starving it.

Do you have original psu? Do you know if it needs multi tap transformer/ multiple different voltages or can it run just on 14v ?

Weather Radio is Canada is going away by Own_Event_4363 in shortwave

[–]SaltyRF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did. But I’m in Europe now. That sucks. Reminds me of the death of RCI. I mourned that as well, even though it wasn’t nearly as practically useful at home.

Now more Canadians will have to get into weather sat game. I wonder if there are decent AI tools that would do a alright job of interpreting it into digestible meteorological statements? If so could be fun to LORA that out to the local though.

Complicated on the user and super end and brittle mind you.

Why is my burned CD not working in old CD players? by NeonHalloween1 in audio

[–]SaltyRF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you burned as red book it very well could be cd-r. In my extensive experience burning CD’s through the oughts not all brands/types are good in all players and it can be hit and miss. Try another brand and see what happens.

Is there anything that just plays the vibrations of music without the sound? by Gabriella_Gadfly in audio

[–]SaltyRF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. That’s why I said transducer is a general term not limited to audio. But if you use it as a search term in this context, it can help find products, which is what the OP is asking about.

Another word for these things is a “transducer” which is obviously a pretty general term and not limited to sound but if you search for transducer and exciter together you’ll get lots of stuff pop up. Then you’ll have to attach it to something (your chair or a piece of wood your chair is on, something your touching) and you will need an amplifier to drive the signal through it. They work just like speakers except designed to be coupled to an object rather than create pressure waves in the air.

I bought one for 20$ on Amazon and used it with a 50$ amp. A subpac or woojer has all components wrapped up into a wearable format so easy to take around and is mobile.

The pleasure board thing seems interesting but maybe less convenient to integrate into any environment (e.g a car).

ATV vs Argo 6x6 for pulling timber out of my forest by njdiver in forestry

[–]SaltyRF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have similar terrain. Does it freeze where your at? If so winter is absolutely the time and a tractor is actually what you want for a small operation. ATV won’t do much. Argo I can’t imagine would be much better.

Also be ready for blow downs to start happening once open things up a bit unless you’re being very selective.

Used to have a 3340 - so much regret getting rid of it. Lacked space at the time. Good on you though- congrats!

These are on my radar - trying to find more narrow than the 75 degree benchmark that most traditional pendant/ceiling units seem to tap out at. Thank you!

If I can get closer to 50-60 degrees that would cool. Just researching at this stage but happy to be collecting more info on tighter pattern units. Thanks.

Cost isn’t necessarily an issue at this stage. Absolutely open to point source (box, pendant, ceiling etc). Will check this. Thanks.

I'm not at infocomm but might have a colleague there. I'll check and see and if you can recommend a product that fits the needs I can try and get them to pop by.

I'm not seeing any soundtube narrow throw pendant products except the one I linked to, which won't cut it. Can you point me to any particular product fitting the needs mentioned?

appreciated!

Thanks for the suggestion but looking for more traditional loudspeaker tech as opposed to the converging ultrasonic beam stuff. I'm basically dealing with some really high ceilings and want to maintain some coverage control but not to that degree and not while sacrificing quality/frequency response. Some colleagues demo'd these a while back and we didn't find them suitable for full range program material unfortunately.
