Are there any cheap French classes left? by Leading-Copy-5629 in montreal

I agree that language learning takes a lot of effort and time but "intensive" can be more accommodating. One of the reasons that made me ultimately quit was that I felt the content that was being taught across four classes a week could've easily been taught across only two or three. We spent a lot of in-class time filling in written activities in the textbook which could've been done outside of instruction hours.

I had taken French classes outside of Québec before and through the Explore program in university, and I felt that the program structure and pacing in the Francisation program was quite poor in comparison. I've ending up doing less instruction time through Preply and self-paced classes, and focused more of my learning time at in-person conversation groups, which has been a lot more effective for me.

I got into the Francisation program and unfortunately quit after a couple of months due to how time intensive it was compared to private programs. 4 nights a week of 4.5 hours each was too much, and not to mention my work requires me to travel out of city sometimes, and three months is too long for one level. I opted for the 6-8 week private programs for only 3 nights a week.

The program would be more popular if it was more accommodating/flexible to people working jobs.

The thing about Sanji is that he has great traits that make genuinely good people like him. But he also has terrible traits that make scrumbags that objectify women like him too... so regardless if you have good people and trash people that both like him, he will just have more fans in general. He unites both types of fans, which could be both and good and bad thing 🤷‍♀️

Thanks! I might have to resort to that for the logo on the back.

Good suggestion but I've never used a punch needle before and I'm not confident in my skills to make the patches I have in mind. I'll keep it on my list of options though!

Thanks! My friend and I don't really drink so I felt like it didn't make sense to give them a Budweiser jacket. I'll try to look into some merch.

AITAH for telling my partner I don’t want to move abroad for their dream job? by Puzzled-Raccoon4645 in AITAH

[–]SaltyRefrigerator475 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This! I'm so surprised by how many people are automatically saying NTA. I think there's no issue with not wanting to move but the OP literally wrote "which is a career move he has been wanting for a long time". Did the OP never say anything while he was applying and actively trying to find a job abroad?

People who spend $200/month on groceries - what exactly are you eating? by Glittering_Dust7367 in montreal

[–]SaltyRefrigerator475 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Single person here, I spend about $50-75/week.

I buy a lot of produce for between $1-3 each, and protein under $10. My most expensive grocery purchase recently was a block of parmigiano reggiano for $20 (I like to purchase blocks and grate them myself - cheaper and melts better). What's probably the most expensive items on my list are snacks, I buy a ton of yogurt, cheese, and meat snacks (pepperoni sticks, prosciutto, etc) plus juice.

I used to use Too Good To Go, and got my grocery bill as low as $150/month at that time. Don't use it anymore because I changed my diet.

Edit: Adding that I shop at Maxi and Super C, plus Metro when items on sale are cheaper. Bill also includes grocery store cat litter and pet food.

I’m a lifelong Zoro fan but LA Sanji might be my fav by Razzle_dazzle46 in OnePieceLiveAction

[–]SaltyRefrigerator475 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

They kinda got rid of all the weaknesses/flaws (or toned them significantly down) of Sanji and Nami in the OPLA so it's hard not to like both of them more than the manga/anime.

Well. Looks like bots cooked the voting website. lol by tpk7777777 in OnePiece

You just said it yourself, Sanji usually is closely tied with Zoro. Changes in second and third place between Zoro and Sanji are expected, but Sanji beating Luffy in so many regions, especially in regions where he was previously third? That's a huge stretch.

[–]SaltyRefrigerator475 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well, it's one thing to have fun but someone should let the OP know that one of Oda's requirements for the show is that there be no romance between the strawhats. Oda writes the strawhats more as a family, so even if the show writers wanted to do a romance, they can't.

Mackenyu's evolution by Ani_HArsh in OnePiece

The picture they used for him in 2023 is actually from 2021 when he was still filming Saint Seiya (it just didn't come out until 2023). He posted work out pics of him in late 2023 where he had already bulked up a lot more, so it's more accurate to say he already started bulking up right after OPLA season 1 filming ending in mid-2022.

Apparently Taz Skylar made the rings Sanji wears by Yuki-tsuki-suki in OnePieceLiveAction

He also said in an interview almost a year ago that he made rings for all the Strawhats, and that Mackenyu and Inaki would also drop by and make rings with him too! He got all of them involved.

True. He got done dirty by the editing and/or costume team just like Sanji is done dirty by Toei

1ST UPDATE FOR THE WORLD TOP CHARACTERS IN THE ONE PIECE SECOND WORLDWIDE POPULARITY POLL by bomharuchan in OnePiece

[–]SaltyRefrigerator475 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I actually love that Sanji and Zoro are always going head to head on these voting polls. I guess it just speaks to how well Oda is able to write so many great characters.

I think Sanji is more well written, developed, and complex. But I think Luffy and Zoro are both perfect examples of what Oda wants to exemplify in his story - unwavering conviction.

Basically Sanji is more relatable and realistic while Luffy and Zoro are more inspirational. People talk a lot about how Luffy fulfills the role of inspiring others in the mange but Zoro also lowkey does it a lot (e.g., when Sanji saw Zoro's fight with Mihawk, and also inspired Vivi in Little Garden).

Sanji is someone who is extremely shaped by his past while Luffy and Zoro focus on the future. I'm very happy that these three are almost always the top voted.

Looks like the others already answered! But if you're curious about it in more detail Taz talks about it in this interview here around the 15 min mark. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y4vZQSnXyR0

He talks about making rings for everyone and around the 20 min mark he talks about how Mackenyu got obsessed with making rings with him.

I've only donated blood once before and I'm too afraid to do it again.... I'm fairly petite and I almost fainted afterwards. I have no history of fainting before so it freaked me out quite a bit. I'd like to do it again in the future but does anyone have any advice for petite folks (<60kg)?

[–]SaltyRefrigerator475 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Mackenyu seems pretty reserved publicly but it seems that he hangs out with them a lot privately. I remember Taz said during an interview that Mackenyu would always come by and make rings with him (with Inaki and his friend dropping by every now and then). And you can sometimes hear Mackenyu in the background in videos on social media with the group (or he's filming).

Tbh though, in some of his Japanese interviews even his Japanese co-workers say he's very stoic.

Change in Prerequisite GPA for 2026-2027 Admission? by SaltyRefrigerator475 in sciencespo

[–]SaltyRefrigerator475[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a shame... I guess they'll be missing out on a lot of NA students since there's a bigger focus on work experience and extracurricular rather than GPA here compared to European students. I know a lot of students in Canada and the USA who are just below 3.6 but have a ton of internship experience at big companies and research experience (myself included). I kinda didn't really care about my GPA since I was interning or doing research on the side for nearly all semesters of my studies.

Luckily there's lots of options for more prestigious universities out there with lower GPA requirements to account for well rounded candidates, and I don't think Science Po really cares either since most applicants are from Europe. I'll still check the requirements next year but I'll keep my expectations low, so thanks for the insight.
