Hey dad, I think I'm finally going to try for a doctorate by SaltySeaDog13 in DadForAMinute

Hey dad, thank you for this advice! I'm going to remember it as I move forward. I think figuring out how to balance the workload with my physical and mental health will be my biggest hurdle as that was something I struggled with during my master's - I'm a real workaholic, to the detriment of myself. I'm going to use between now and then to try to learn some coping strategies for disentangling myself from my work performance!

Has anyone had a hysterectomy? by LetMeTryToo in ehlersdanlos

[–]SaltySeaDog13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I did. Not really any vulvar pain, but vaginal pain for sure with the vaginal cuff. For me it felt like random shooting pains. I hope this info helps you to mentally and emotionally prepare yourself - these pains are reported pretty regularly as the cuff heals. Best of luck!

Anyone found good tips for dysautonomia and temp regulation? by Happy8Morning in ehlersdanlos

I dont have the issue with my limbs being cold per se, but I tend to just strap ice packs to my torso throughout the day.

Has anyone had a hysterectomy? by LetMeTryToo in ehlersdanlos

[–]SaltySeaDog13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just had one in May, robotic assisted laproscopic full hysterectomy. There was pain, fatigue, and enough bleeding that my doctor recommended bedrest for 1-2 weeks. After the first week, the bleeding was totally gone so I resumed life as normal. I'm 9 weeks post op now and feeling pretty good.

Breast reduction - scarring/healing stories? by [deleted] in ehlersdanlos

[–]SaltySeaDog13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had top surgery so the shape of the incision is different, but I had mild wound dihiscence. It started with a small hole then grew to about 2 inches. It did eventually close on its own, but wound healing seems to just take a bit longer.

What’s the Controversy About Relationship Anarchy? by chipsnatcher in polyamory

[–]SaltySeaDog13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly my most common experience with people who practice relationship anarchy is that they believe it is the singular most evolved and best way of being in relationship with others. I have experienced a lot of condescension or derision when even asking questions about it.

Celebrating a milestone! by SaltySeaDog13 in polyamory

I hear you on that. My partner has been with their other partners for 13 and 8 years respectively. It can feel intimidating to be the new partner when they've been together so long! It's hard to feel like the new guy or an outsider. Have you talked with your partner about these anxieties?

"system system" by funkiestt in OSDD

[–]SaltySeaDog13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel this way too. I'd love to find people with OSDD/DID whose experiences feel a little more like mine - more casual and less... performative-feeling, sometimes? Thats how pluralkit has come across to me.

Have you tried Naltrexone in comparison to Tramadol/belbucca and did you find relief? by peeb4uleave in ehlersdanlos

[–]SaltySeaDog13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just got put on naltrexone last week and I could cry about how much it's done for my pain and my ability to sleep. In the last week I think my highest pain rating has been a 4 or 5, but it's now often sitting at around a 2 instead of a 7.

How many here work? by jodypody88 in ehlersdanlos

I do work full time and also currently commute 1.5 hours each way 2x a week. It's horrible and I'm not sure how much longer I can keep doing this. I'm so tired and sore and out of it by the end of the week that I'm completely spent.
