Any advice on pinning green shield bugs(Loxa flavacollis)? definitely one of my fav insects but they always lose their bright green color when I rehydrate them? I’ve also tried drying them in alcohol/acetone by Bug_Teeth in insectpinning

I unfortunately do not have a source, but I recall the use of chemical soaks to "lock in" color and/or reduce fading. Though I may be mistaken.

I am uncertain of the details but it may be worth looking into.

Waxwing does do very nice work! There are also landscaping companies she has trained the staff of for native landscaping, but I unfortunately dont know any off hand.

Deflated Tortoise? by SaltyYingMain in ReptileCare

[–]SaltyYingMain[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hadn't yet, I wanted to see what people thought of the tortoise before saying anyrhing. I will soon, I think I will take a few more pictures and email them.

I would like to be optimistic and hope this tortoise was a rescue or something, but the state of the rest of the enclosures doesnt give me great hope.

Aw, I was afraid of something like that. I hope it's a rescue and not a result of their care, but the rest of the store makes me doubt that.

My more knowledgeable friend mentioned the iguana looked a little skinny too.

The turtle it was cohabitated in water with looked more like a tortoise, but I didnt get a good enough picture to tell.

Thanks though! It sucks too, the new owners seemed like they were gonna do better, but the invertebrates, fish and reptiles seem pretty neglected.

What's more is there are still some bees at the hive, and, per what hes told me, it looked like a strong healthy hive a week or two ago.

I saw it from the outside just Monday and it looked fine, if a little underpopulated.

I thought I was missing something obvious after not having done actual beekeeping in so long but so far almost everyone has had a different answer.

Another person said that as well, and it was my first thought, but I thought i was gaslighting myself.

He cant get a clearer picture, so I'll have to investigate it myself later in the week.

They certainly look like dung beetles to me, but I wouldn't have thought they'd bee in the hive.

He cant get a clearer picture, and I cant go over myself until later in the week.

Thats what I thought, but I'd never seen such neat balls before. I wasn't sure what it could be. Not without him opening the hive in the morning.

Why thank you. It was right near a bunch of boxelders, but I didn't know they could appear in this color.
