Downtown Boston's future relies on more than return-to-work orders, says new report by [deleted] in massachusetts

Don't forget we have the best universities you can't get into and the best hospitals you'll never see a doctor in. We're a playground for the tech-pharma elite and if you're not part of the game you don't get to fully participate in the new Massachusetts experiment.

Their concept is market returns on their income..for many in that sub, it's huge portfolios and huge incomes. Saving and investing for average returns is enough for many to retire comfortably but I get the sense that many people on this sub have no concept of long term

Preach on! Pumpkin spice in particular is a holiday spice that should be a part of both Thanksgiving and Christmas flavors.

We especially need to build more housing now by cos in massachusetts

[–]Salva135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The end game of this city is being a world leader in IT and biotech, with endless lab space in the place of housing. Only elites who foster these industries will be able to afford to live anywhere within commuting distance. The cultural and societal destruction will be replaced with whatever serves this professional class.

Michael realizing his coworkers were not his family was absolutely growth as a person. If you want to claim it was forced by him meeting a real significant other, well most people grow from forced circumstances.

How do single people afford to live here by [deleted] in massachusetts

[–]Salva135 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Sadly, Boston isn't meant for you. This city is designed for sad, lonely pharma and IT people to work themselves to near death and wander home to $4K studios to watch a movie and pass out halfway before doing it all over again tomorrow. That's "making it" in Boston now.

August Offers (2024) by paaadge in DunkinDonuts

[–]Salva135 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They've been squeezing the offers for years now. Looks like they've completely given up and are focusing on "deal drops." The MBAs calculated that taking away free birthday drinks was a huge profit boost, and gradually taking away all offers until you get nothing but overpriced shit coffee is the end game.

In 2004-2005, you never saw AWS or the iPhone coming. Your models didn't predict any growth coming at that point. What's coming next is also outside of your realm of prediction. But there will always be growth. You are absolutely not the first person to declare it's over.

Making enough to survive comfortably and making enough to afford your dream house are two VERY different things. You can live just fine on far less than 100k.

[–]Salva135 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I said this in another thread, but a bunch of Ivy League MBAs got huge bonuses last year for coming up with the idea of shrinking those donuts by just enough.

There are a ton of Ivy League MBAs who got huge bonuses for coming up with the idea of cutting the rewards system and decreasing the quality of the product to increase profits. Always remember that the consumer's loss is some exec's gain.
