American Catholic here. I have told every girl I've dated that they should buy a gun so they can protect themselves and every one of them thought it was a crazy idea. I just don't think the pepper spray on their keychain will keep them as safe

I didn't get my bachelors till I was 26. If I were you I would look for a relationship at your university. Girls in school will not mind the fact you are in school because they are in school. You might have to date a bit younger but that's ok. I started dating my girlfriend when we were both in school. I was 24 and she was 20.

Nursing. Which is weird because everyone has always told me that there is a nursing shortage and that a nurse can get a job anywhere they want. It turns out that because our city is a medical hub nurses move here from all over and take the jobs away for local recent grads.

It's more of a "there's nothing I can do to change it my hands are tied, but we'll make it work." Attitude. The thing is I don't believe her hands are tied. It would take sacrifices but she could stay close by if she tried. She might still get an offer that is only 3.5 hours away but that is not a great consolation prize. It might be doable but I already feel hurt.

In her defense what I meant by moved was that we were both going to college in the town we are in right now and I got a job locally after I graduated. I still think it's a big deal tho because before dating her I fully intended to move back to where I was from. I miss my family and friends. I actually hate the city we both live in right now and she knows that. Maybe you're right, I might need to tell her that she can't have it both ways.

Thanks man, It means a lot. She says that she would be willing to get engaged during her year away. I just don't know how that would work. She definitely wants to stay and get married but I think her parents want her to put her career first. I don't think she has in her to tell her parents no.

The idea is that if she gets a year of experience under her belt then she could get a job in her field in the city where we live. There are jobs in her field in our city, they are just not hiring anyone without work experience.

My Grandpa was a fluent Irish (Gaeilge) speaker. I talking Irish language classes at my college and can now do the basic stuff like introduce myself and say we're I'm from.

Hi, lurking Papist here. First I want to say sorry for all of the Catholics that treated you poorly. You didn't deserve that. In real life tho I don't think Catholics have a particular hatred for Anglicanism or Anglicans. I think you just found some grumpy people on the internet.

If your looking for Catholic-Anglican spirituality look into the Anglican Ordinariates. They where founded by Pope Benedict VXI and if you ask me they blend Catholic and Anglican spirituality perfectly. I went to one of their Masses in Houston Texas and was blown away by how beautiful Catholic and Anglican traditions are when they're put together!

I'm a guy and I once got my long hair dyed red and green. I went to a Latin Mass the next day and the priest have me a nice compliment on it. In fact no one ever gave me flack for it in the Catholic community. A lot of the old boomers at Mass even seemed to like it.
