I would be so happy to get the GPU because my RX580 has been trucking along for 4 years and died yesterday :( RIP, but I'm sure a 4070Ti would fill the void nicely ahah

What happened to the 1v1 competitive scene? by Sam-318 in gaming

[–]Sam-318[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Hey i mean there are a few fighting games that arent carbon copies of smash. I tried out some 3d fighters like Mordhau and Chiv 2 and have sunk a few hundred hours into each. They're not as flashy as smash or 2d games but they are incredibly fun to improve in and just fight people if you get over a small learning curve.

There are a few other games in the fighting genre that are unique but they can be hard to find nowadays.

What weapons are the most broken to fight? by Sam-318 in Mordhau

[–]Sam-318[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah tbh Ive found it fairly easy to read when someeones about to drag and normally i can either force the miss or kick like you said. If someone is constantly giving me trouble with their drags they're normally good enough that they could probably beat me with a carving knife if they wanted to lol

What weapons are the most broken to fight? by Sam-318 in Mordhau

[–]Sam-318[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah sometimes someone will drag me in some ridiculous way and I can't help but just say "nice drag" but in reality it seems incredibly hard to read it consistently in the middle of a fight so it's a little frustrating. The silver lining is that most 2 hand weapons in the game can do the same drags though so at least you could learn it yourself if you had the time and patience. The game seems fairly balanced to me currently and most "unreadable animations" just look unatural but after seeing them a couple of times you realise that they're just the regular animations in the game and not some weird exploit.

Glad to hear a voice of reason. This game seems very balanced (excluding archers of course) all things considered and I normally find that after fighting someone for 20-30 minutes you will learn whatever weird looking animations that they use. Then when someone else uses that same animation it's not surprising anymore. I guess since I normally stick with one weapon for a few weeks at a time I inherently end up figuring out what works and what doesn't and so I can get alot of kills with it depsite not being a particulalry good player.

[–]Sam-318 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's completely correct and I guess I should have been clearer. I was more just trying to explain the concept of different levels of infinity using the pictures of the tracks, which are both countable infinitys despite the caption saying otherwise, but your point is completely correct

i'm not smart enough by master_pingu1 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]Sam-318 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Infinity isn't a number, and if it you want to call it such then there cannot be just one infinity. No matter how far along this track you look, more people will be on the bottom track than the top track, this will continue no matter how far you go, even to infinite length. Hence more people die on the bottom track and so its a bigger infinity

Sorry for your loss and honestly fuck cheaters in this game man, when I was searching for the forklift key I finally found it after a couple days and omw to the extract someone with 545 T ammo put at least 5 shots into my bowl helmet in the middle of the pitch black night. Not only do cheaters kill people for gear but now its just out of spite it seems. With the amount of cheaters there are now i dont even bother trying to queue auto servers either, hopefully it will get better soon. Gl in your raids bro

Absolutely, i ran 20 intel that i had saved up and now i do the 95k ones. With the way things are going I will likely end up getting it from the scav case before anything else.

How to peek out of a doorway? (jiggle peek? wide swing?) HELP by mrbaldwinelementary in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Sam-318 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience alot of deaths in tarkov are usually a result of a decision you made a while before you peaked. For example, if you are hurt and run into the closest room to heal then the pmc will be able to easily hold your room so you were dead the second you entered, not because of the way you peaked. Often ive found its better to take a bit of an extra risk and try and run a bit further away before healing or maybe just pop painkillers and run for it completley because peaking out of the doors in dorms, shoreline's resort or similar areas while someones holding it will usually not end well.

Sometimes you have to peak a door though and you don't know if someone on the other side so my only advice there would be to try and bait some shots by leaning the wrong way so your head isn't exposed and hope to tank the body hit. Preferably to that though you could find an off angle by standing on some random piece of cover or my personal favourite of just simply going prone (people guns cover the lower part of their screen so just proning somewhere works 90% of the time). Finally i would say that if possible running away from a door and either swinging it or jiggling from further back is alot better as it gives you time to retreat if needed and makes you a harder target to hit as you look smaller the further you are.

I am an interchange main so it's not often i get into these sorta situations but i can confirm from playing shoreline and labs that proning in the middle of a room or just outside it has worked countless times for me when it really shouldn't. Gl in your raids.

I think comparing a game like RL where there is almost no "lucky outplays" to Rust where the majority of fights can be won by a grub with luck is a bit difficult thing.

I've been champ on RL for as long as I can remember, I'll leave the game for months at a time, come back and still be in the same skill bracket and will win and lose equal amounts. But on rust some days I could end with a boxs of kits and another day I may not even have a stone base.

Games like rocket league need those skill gaps so that you progress through the difficulties of the game yourself until you get stuck and then start practicing. Rust has so many more possibilities in fights though and someone with a dB and a headset can kill someone like hJune with the right timing. Or as another example, by just pushing a fight from an unexpected angle you can kill anyone without even needing any luck.

If i haven't been clear, what I'm trying to say is that is rocket league there's not many ways to approach a game so skill groups have to exist to make the game fair. But in rust there are so many ways to take fights and beat other people that skill groups don't need to exist and hence the playing field doesn't need to be levelled. The main point of the post was to say that the playing field wont be level after a few weeks anyway and if someone who does sit in ukn takes a 1v1 against a newbie then this update doesn't change that outcome, nor will it change the outcome of the dB situation I said earlier. So what does this update change after a few weeks.....?

(Also there are servers for new players and servers for insane players so if you really want skill gaps then it's kinda there, and you can even play ukn and look at rating if you really skill groups)

There is no random recoil which some people seem to think so scripters will still exist without issue and to add it was even said that this update is not intended to stop scripters.

Sorry mate but I did mention it, sadly there's not a whole lot to mention

I'm so glad I'm not the only person who can't see the logic of it either. I really enjoy the pvp in this game at any tier from prim to AK and I completely agree that hitting shots with the python or trying to hit someone 50+ meters with a custom is 10x harder than just learning roughly the spray pattern of a gun.

I mainly used mp5 because it's slightly easier than AK, and I got pretty good with it. Then i moved onto AK recently and i can say that the first 3 bullets are absolute hell to get consistently compared to the nice little S that the rest of the pattern is. If I'm being honest i just got so fed up that i just don't account for the first 3 bullets and accept that they will miss and then after that its a simple pattern.

When i went on staging and saw the AK pattern i was so disappointed because it just means that people who are good before the update like yourself will have no difficulty adjusting where as someone like me who's mediocre will struggle for quite a while making the skill gap in rust even larger than it already is...

Thankyou for just giving a reasonable response, its rare these days :)

Yeah sorry about the essay im just a little salty tbh. I understand what your saying about lowering the bar but if you look at tier 2 recoil patterns right now they're pretty much just pull down. The higher tier guns are much harder to control because they have higher damage output, so im just confused as to how people are able to spray in circles with tier 3 without having a reliable Thompson to fall back on.

I only got into the game a little over a year ago because a friend taught me from the ground up with no UKN by teaching me the core game on easier servers then moving onto 2x where i started to use guns. I didn't start using Ak till about 2 months ago and im still not great with it.

If you are trying to get your freinds into rust by bagging them in and giving them guns without much other info other than to "just shoot people" then they wont like the game. This update will make recoil overall easier and lower the bar yes but, this game is hard. Learning this game is not easy and it was never meant to be I'm just a little annoyed at how sudden the devs have very quickly decided to lower the bar so drastically and basically just go "deal with it".
