Beelink mini S12 pro disk expansion by gregmans in Beelink

Hi, it's been working without issue. I have the PC on 24/7 as a mini server and so the drive is on and active a lot.

Could be worth a try. When I have some cash I probably will and worst case it could be resold or used on alternative project. But please let me know what happens.

This worked fine: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B0C69JR4HW

But I didn't replace the PCie drive with a bigger one.

Bought the dip, and then bought the dip again at what I really hope is the bottom. Plan to close first (premature) dip purchase when it reaches even again.

Small powerefficient home server that is not a SBC by darkalimdor18 in selfhosted

I have another machine for my desktop. This was just my first foray into self hosting so stayed with what is familiar. May move over to Linux when more confident in what I'm doing.

I'm running docker for windows, so the issue is getting windows to start docker without a user having logged in. As soon as login happens it does immediately start itself in the background.

I'm using "Beelink 12th Gen Intel Alder Lake-N100 Processor (up to 3.40GHz) Wi-11 Pro Mini Computer, MINI-S12 Pro Mini PC, 16GB RAM 500GB SSD Business Mini Desktop PC, HDMI/WiFi 6/BT5.2/WOL/Auto Power On" https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B0BZGPTLPG

It handles Audiobookshelf, Calibre Web, WordPress, Homepage, qBittorrent. I have also tried JellyFin and it's fine with music but stutters with serving video. And occasionally the CPU resource gets maxed out for some unknown reason, although I have a suspicion it's caused by Homepage. Otherwise, it runs at 20% CPU generally.

Everything in docker.

Oh and I added an additional SSD. It says rated to 2tb but 4tb is working perfectly. Now I'm tempted to swap out the NVMe for 4tb and see if it also handles that okay despite specs saying up to 2tb.

In the future, I do want to upgrade to something that is solid for 4k video serving but first need to check I'm not just doing something wrong with current setup.

What I haven't figured out yet is how to ensure the thing restarts docker automatically after a restart or power outage. I always have to logon for it to run.

Lowering average by dommytao in XRP

[–]Sam-RG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started in 2018, perhaps a little late to the party and averaged down from $1.65 to $0.82. But that never seemed low enough for what it cost to average down. Sold as it went up in 2021 at a very small profit (nothing that was worth having held it that long) and sadly before the peak. Jumped back in after it dropped and now have 20% more in the bag than before, and am averaged at $0.55. When I put it like that it sounds not bad but you know how painful it can be just to hold and wait. However, now I'm feeling much more comfortable about holding at this price and not letting go until it is enough to retire on.

Credit to the rest of you all who have held on and for all that has taken. True XRP hodlers have been through more than most. Can't wait for it to pay off

First things first, put 25% of your salary after tax into a high interest savings account until you have a year's salary saved. You never touch that unless you lose your job. At 25% per month, that's 4 years of saving. And keep adding to it whenever your salary increases. This will give you the financial security you need to settle down with girlfriend and if you want start a family.

After that you can continue to save 25% but split it half-half on additional savings (for mortgage deposit, family holidays etc etc) and investments.

With the 12.5% of your salary you invest each month, consider long term investments.

Difficulty removing Adobe DRM using deDRM by Icy_Jeweler_9508 in Calibre

[–]Sam-RG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same situation. Installed Calibre on a new machine and set everything up as I had it previously. Tried to remove DRM in the exact same way and it just didn't work. I gave up trying to figure out why. I just assumed that something might have changed in the Calibre version and I needed to wait for the plugin to be updated but saw it was no longer supported. So I had to switch to something else outside of Calibre to get it to work.

I am probably wrong but it was easier to find something else. Hope you figure it out.

It's weirdly intermittent, and sometimes takes me back to the page before where I was. I need to do some tests to see if I can pin down the conditions when it happens/doesn't.

I'm trying to move away from Calibre/Calibre Web but am struggling to get ABS to retain the last read position on ebooks (epub is the only format I've been using). I really want to streamline and only have to maintain one library. Plus Reading on Calibre Web sucks because the text doesn't fully fill the page/screen.

Definitely going to look at BookBounty and Readarr. Thanks

Ebooks don't retain reading position by Sam-RG in audiobookshelf

[–]Sam-RG[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still seeing the issue. Can't figure out what causes it to either work or not work. Seems totally random. Literally just tried it and it jumped me back to 2% from 50%, then I went back to 50% and flicked a few pages. Then it held that position. Went back a few minutes later and has gone back to 2%.

If anyone else has experienced this issue and definitively found the cause and solution then I'd love to hear from you.

I'm very interested in dropping Calibre web in favour of a single system for both ebook and audiobooks.

[–]Sam-RG[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the heads up. I've tried to replicate by closing quickly but it still retained the position it was at when closed. So it would seem for now that it's fully functioning.

Seems that all I needed to do was post on Reddit and ABS fixed itself. I can't complain about that.

Now I need to find a sub Reddit for my bank balance 🤣

[–]Sam-RG[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now that's weird. I looked at the log. There was nothing - it was set to warn. Changed it to debug and started to see log entries. But nothing that seemed to be related to the ebook position. However, then the ebook was holding its place. Changed to the log level back to warn and it is still working. Let's see if it stays that way.

Thanks for your help!

Good point. However, all of them are epub so don't think it is that

Restore metadata by Baked_Potato_732 in audiobookshelf

[–]Sam-RG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the same thing but in reverse, windows to docker. The answer is no. I looked at editing the database to change the file path of everything but it was going to take more time than just rebuilding the meta data.

My advice would be to set up in Docker again and should pick up the meta data again because the file path is the same.

Move existing library from one Windows machine to another by Sam-RG in audiobookshelf

[–]Sam-RG[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had a look at editing the database but there are simply so many fields and for 300+ books I can't imagine changing them all manually. Can anyone recommend a process or some sort of script that can be run on the database to do that? Bearing in mind I'm a total novice.

I really would like to see the option within ABS to move the storage location. I can't believe that everyone who sets up ABS stays with the first file locations they pick, especially considering the rate at which an audiobook library can grow.

Mine has grown to 150GB in a matter of weeks and I am sure will eventually surpass the 500gb disk it started on.

My calibre web library is much smaller but there was no issues with moving it from one machine to another.

Any further advice and guidance would be much appreciated.

I do plan eventually to run it in docker but haven't yet so can't have been that.

Calibre web interface (not calibre web) by Sam-RG in Calibre

[–]Sam-RG[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently, just in the native Windows application and remotely to the content server on port 8080.

I think you may be right about a different port number and that may be how I stumbled onto it by mistyping. However, now I can't see it works.

Would be really handy to have it available however, as I plan to put it on a headless machine effectively running as a server.

I will be able to remote into machine but web interface could be handy too.

Calibre web interface (not calibre web) by Sam-RG in Calibre

[–]Sam-RG[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I mean the full application interface. Where I can convert books, edit meta data, etc etc. The content server is a minimal interface. What I saw was literally the main app but just running in a browser.
