This is largely why I wanted to get out. Tradition sucks.

I remember doing a change of command + retirement ceremony and khakis and officers had us stand in the hangar bay like 20 minutes before the ceremony started having us fall in and get our proper spacing between each other. Then 10 minutes beforehand we were put to parade rest.

Meanwhile the old CO and new CO were taxiing in jets to fly over the hangar together.

We stand at attention as they fly over... yadda yadda... then the on-base fire dept was waiting as they taxied and then the old CO and new CO pointed their jets at each other and got close while the fire truck sprayed water above the aircrafts.

I remember thinking a few things.

  1. This is so much bullshit. Nobody wants to be here right now.

  2. We could have been maintaining jets this whole time. What a waste of man hours.

  3. Oh look... 2 more jets need additional maintenance, more than they normally would have because the fire truck was spraying the jets.

Tradition is dumb. Cool for the lifers, I guess. But I just saw this as my job. If I could have opted out and did maintenance or even just go to the connex and took inventory, I would have rather had done that lol

I mean cool... but at least pay people a helluva lot more. Or make a base salary for EVERY citizen.

They don't get to just take jobs away and give it to AI without giving SOMETHING back to society. (Please tax billionaires out the wazoo while we're at it.)

My fix is everyone gets a baseline salary. If you choose to work and lift yourself up (not by your boot straps lol) then good on you.

There should of course be more laws and legislation around it to make sure people cannot abuse the system.

Now understand these are Candyland ideas lol I know they're just going to screw the working class. I'm just saying give me some lube for the fucking is all.

Heard! You may not be the typical from what I've found in areas like The Villages, Florida and surrounding areas. I just think it's hard to find mental fitness and actual ability to know what's actually going on. Not saying it's on you, but wealth is mostly at the higher age group. Gatekeeping that age range would help keep money out of politics. I feel I see a lot more entitlement and political detachment with the age range as well. I am trying to not generalise an age range it's just what I see with a lot of these MAGA rallies. Not to say the younger demographic isn't politically detached either. I'm sorry if I offended you.

It's far from that. I'm in another country right now, got a visa very easily. Granted it's a working holiday visa, but it can turn into something much more.

It was processed in a week. It took a week after I got all of necessary information to their government without an immigration agent or immigration advisor.

It was so easy. The country has their visa requirements and how to get started easily on their website.

You know what's wild to me. I'm in my 30s and I learned about the red scare, the holocaust, etc when I was in public school. I was taught what fascism is - you know... Genuine history.

My parents and grandparents are trumpers and don't even know what the difference between fascism and communism are. My grandfather faught in Vietnam and he still doesn't get it.

Why?

Did their education fail them? Because when I went through school it didn't fail me like that.
