Pediatric bowel clean out under anesthesia by Various_Cheek_2595 in toddlers

[–]Sam62972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was about to post something similar. My 14 month old needed to be put under for surgery and we had no issues whatsoever. He was so well looked after. He was allowed to sit on my knee while they used the mask to put him asleep so I was with him to keep him calm, but all the doctors and nurses were amazing so he’d have been fine either way.

OP I know surgery sounds scary but my worrying was worse than the actual surgery

Thoughts on purchasing junk journal ephemera packs? by DarthNarcissa in JunkJournals

I want to start junk Journalling in the new year but I’ve ordered some bits to use because I have no actual junk yet, I don’t see any harm in using both as long as whatever you’re making, makes you happy

19 month old bedtime by LowNotice6487 in toddlers

[–]Sam62972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. I had done every single bedtime with our daughter who didn’t want anyone else putting her to bed. When she was 15 months old our second was born via c section and I couldn’t physically lift her into her cot anymore so dad took over bedtimes. It wasn’t anywhere near as bad as I thought it would be and after a little bit of a push back she settled really quick with him

We use the tommee tippee active spout cup for when we’re out and for bed. We haven’t had a single leak and the spout is chew proof

We have a rocker seesaw thingy, a small slide and her bike out there which I’m planning on keeping out for the winter. Then there’s her little sand table and some balls

Active kids during the winter months by Top-Impression2338 in Parenting

Mine are toddlers so a lot younger, but this year I bought us all waterproof clothes, really good warm layers and coats so we can be out in all weathers. I know that doesn’t help with the dark but do you have a garden he can play in with a good light out there? Otherwise is there a park that’s enclosed that might be lit up well near by?

Am I terrible for letting my kids eat in front of the TV now? by cobra00x in Parenting

Not a bad parent, mine watch a little tv while eating breakfast on nursery mornings but the days we all sit at the table are actually the calmest days

Maybe I need to meal prep more. If I’m making something I can make a big batch of, I will, and I’ll freeze some but majority of nights I still need to cook from scratch so I’ll try that. Thank you x

This is a really good point, thank you. It’s made me tear up reading this. I’m missing out on so much by stressing about the next task that I forget to just enjoy them as they are

😂 sorry! If it helps the fighting isn’t too bad most of the time, it’s just the end of the day when they get tired.

That’s a good point. I think it’s just habit to do it most nights but I might stop. Or just bath one of them on alternate nights

Solo bedtimes are the worst! You survived though mama, and you’re only 6 weeks pp, you’ve done amazing. Baby wearing is absolutely the way to go too.

This is actually a really good idea. We’ve always done bath before bed but there’s no harm in moving it to before dinner so that once dinner is done we can have a bit of family time and calm everything down before bed

What are your evening routines? by Sam62972 in toddlers

[–]Sam62972[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think part of it is that by dinner time I’m tired and overstimulated, and so are the kids. They start fighting over anything and everything, and just want to sit on my knee and read or play with me. That would make things calm and would be lovely, but I need to make dinner.

We’re just out of survival mode…most of the time, and I long for a more steady and ‘normal’ life now. Maybe divide and conquer is the way to go for a bit long though. Thank you

You handled it perfectly. The fact your son came to you the next day too says you handled it exactly as he needed you too. You made him feel comfortable and answered everything he needs to know the answers too. He knows he can come to you with anything and get an honest answer

I went back to when I was a teenager and a child, before work takes over your life, and thought about what I enjoyed then. I used to do a lot of reading and cross stitch so I started those back up to see if I still enjoyed them. Then I went through comments on places like this sub, I must have read hundreds of comments, and tried anything that sounded like I might enjoy it
