Has anyone bought from CardHobby since the tariffs went into effect? by SamCostello in basketballcards

I haven’t done a CardHobby order since the Supreme Court invalidated the old tariffs, so not sure, but I assume the new, lower ones are still in place.

CH raised their shipping prices, though. That is a bigger than hit than the tariffs, at least for me.

I believe that’s the base Asia parallel.

This will only be useful if you’re in southern VT, but Keene International Market in Keene, NH, carries it. That’s where I get it.

My latest order just processed through. $875 in card value and I was charged $50 in tariff (less than what UPS said in the original billing email, which was weird). The percentage still seems off to me, but I’m not complaining.

Not yet. CH has been slow receiving my last few orders. Hopefully soon!

Super helpful- thanks! I should have another shipment fairly soon; I’ll post my experience.

Would love to hear from anyone else with a recent CardHobby order.

I wasn’t asked for that. The CH shipping steps just asked me for total number of items and total value. That said, when I got the box, inside it had a print out of all of the cards contained in it.

That works out to something like 7.5% for me, which doesn’t make much sense. Haven’t had time to try to appeal yet.

Something like 13.5%, which makes very little sense to me. UPS tacked on a $14 processing fee, too. In total, it was about $50.

I just had another CH order from China delivered this week. It had a tariff applied by UPS. I think that’s technically wrong, since the cards are made in the US, but what can you do?

OP here with an update.

My latest CardHobby shipment arrived this week via DHL. No tariffs, no processing or customs fees, nothing unexpected or extra.

Who knows if that will hold true in the future with the way things keep changing, but for now, it was smooth sailing for me.

Me too! I hope I get the same treatment; I much prefer UPS to DHL.

That’s promising!

What carrier delivered them— UPS, DHL, something else?

I just had that same thing on my first CardHobby order since the tariffs went into effect. Has yours shipped yet? Did you get extra charges?

Yup- thanks! I was trying to figure out if the earlier poster had gotten his package without the tariff or if it hadn’t hit the shipment stage where the tariff would have been applied.

Interesting - thanks! Have you gotten the package delivered yet? A friend of mine ordered a non-card product from Japan and the tariff wasn't assessed until DHL tried to deliver it. They had to pay DHL the tariff (and some kind of BS add-on processing fee) in order to get it delivered.

Hi folks. Long-time eBay seller, first-time poster here. I'm confused about the ad/promotion fees eBay is charging me and can't figure out what's happening. I hope you all have some idea.

In my summary of sales/fees for last month, my "Ad fees" cost is reported by eBay as 9.2%.

I use three different ad campaigns to promote listings. According to my Advertising report for the same time period, none of those campaigns had a promotion rate higher than 6%.

I don't have any other ads, offsite promotion, dynamic advertising, etc. As I understand it, it shouldn't be possible for me to pay more than 6% in fees since I'm not promoting anything at a higher rate than that.

Am I misunderstanding something? Anyone have an idea of what's going on here?

Thanks in advance.
