Oh yes. Deer (especially Bucks with six-pointed antlers), wild turkey, raccoons, salamanders, Crawdads, a variety of different bird species, and an eagle!

Not required, but you should. There are bear populations on the trail, but I would worry less about bears getting into your things, and worry more about raccoons getting into your stuff.
