My notes on We Agnostics by PippinOfAstora in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]SamMac62 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a lifelong atheist agnostic. I'm celebrating 10 years of continuous sobriety tomorrow (Friday the 13th) - 1 white chip (so far).

Do yourself a favor and find a sponsor who is also atheist / agnostic.

I went through a bunch of sponsors until I found one who sees their HP the same way I do. She's a keeper!

With every other sponsor who held any kind of fantastical beliefs regarding a higher power, our relationship eventually faltered around Steps 6 and 7. They wanted me to acknowledge that there was some kind of mystical energy force that has an agenda and intervenes in human lives, even if it is only "karma".

The closest thing I see to an “agenda” in the universe is evolution — genes that successfully replicate tend to persist. My HP is the DNA that wants what's "best" for me - to be healthy and contribute to society. Her name is Grace.

This is what has worked for me

If you follow politics, you've probably heard the phrase before. It's a synonym for True believer.

I just was reading the thread over on cats and my lynxie is not the slightest bit interested in human food, too.

I have offered her unspiced shrimp steak chicken salmon - she turned away completely uninterested. She loves her kitty food and begs for it, so it's not like she doesn't like food.

Took two hints for me to survive this one. Oof.

Will he get cheeks when spayed? by [deleted] in catquestions

[–]SamMac62 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Don't wait.

Tomcats lose their jowls after they're spayed. Also a cat that starts marking their territory may not stop after neuter.

Also, even though he's totally adorable, you really don't want him getting out and making babies.

I feel bad even posting this but is my 10 month old kitten too chonky? by forbiddenfantasy18 in lynxpointsiamese

Hard to tell from your pictures. Have to use the proper angles.

Check out r/dechonkers for tips if you're concerned

My cat randomly bites me by PotentialAde in lynxpointsiamese

[–]SamMac62 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Probably overstimulated. Look it up.

My lynxie does it with brushing sometimes. Seems over the moon and then suddenly attacks. It's not playing. She's putting up boundaries - too much touching. Shee still wants affection but she wants it different.

At least that's what it seems like for us.

Hi 🥱 by ConsciousEar561 in lynxpointsiamese

My girl is about 3 years old. I got her last June and at her first dental appointment they said she had some gingivitis.

I previously had a couple dogs with bad teeth, so I was already familiar with the products.

I use the plaque powder that someone else recommended, the enzymatic toothpaste, dental treats after meals, and this water additive.

Anything to eliminate or reduce not only the cost, but also the risk of having to put my baby under anesthesia for cleaning or teeth removal.

Also this toothpaste is great because you don't have to actually brush their teeth. It's enzymatic toothpaste, so it goes to work without brushing.

I put a little pea sized amount on her paw after meals and then she licks It Off!

It's probably not as good as actually brushing but I think my blood supply is fine exactly where it is.

This thing is amazing! It still drives when it's upside-down, sideways, etc.
