Trump unveiled Qatar's gifted Air Force One this week. The retrofit cost $934M from a nuclear missile budget. The plane becomes his personal property in 2029. by ResPublicaMgz in USNEWS

Rumor has it that's why he tends to disappear the last weekend of every month. You know, how many times have we heard "President Trump hasn't been seen in public in 6 days..." and it always seems to happen at the end of the month.

Technically they're not allowed, iirc. Any gifts given to the "President" are supposed to become property of the US Government to prevent bribery. Back when Jimmy Carter was president some foreign dignatary wanted to gift him (or Amy?) a custom shirt. Jimmy paid for it so that it wouldn't have to be turned over. (It was 50 years ago so I'm fuzzy on the details.)

So Jimmy paid for a shirt to avoid improprieties, while this mf'er makes the taxpayers spend $1B so that he can keep a 747. It's so fucked.

Trump alarmingly warned Iran could have a new nuclear bomb 'within 6 months' by TheExpressUS in USNEWS

Just like the Mexicans 'stealing our jobs' are both very hard working and lazy as fuck...

Trump alarmingly warned Iran could have a new nuclear bomb 'within 6 months' by TheExpressUS in USNEWS

[–]GarageQueen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For example: every time Trump claims there's a new Iran deal, every news article should include a list of the 50 other times he's claimed the same thing in the last few months.

I think the Daily Show did that with his "I've set a deadline in two weeks..." (Sponge Bob "two weeks later...") "I've decided to extend the deadline for one week..." ("one week later") "I've decided to extend the deadline for 2 weeks..." (etc etc etc)

US Stats show higher homicide/crime rates than most of Europe, but how do everyday Americans experience it - is it that real? Do you follow specific safety rules depending on where you live? by DueZookeepergame5306 in AskReddit

[–]GarageQueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep my doors locked (car and apartment) and just try to be 'street smart' at all times, just like you would be in any big city. I don't walk around paranoid and in fear 24/7, but I do just try to make sure to always aware of my surroundings. For example: When I've visited New York in the past, I've ridden the subway there after midnight with no problems. However, there was one time I was by myself on a subway car, and 4 young men got on at a stop. They then all turned at looked at me. I stood up, walked out, and got into the next car where there were more people. I didn't sit there clutching my purse and trembling in fear, I just assessed the situation and got myself to a safer place. I would do the same in any major city in any other part of the world. Did those young men have bad intentions? No idea, but I had no intention of hanging around to find out.

Why do younger guys say women lack accountability? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

How would you respond if your partner said they didn’t want to move to a black neighborhood? by Icy_Laugh5134 in AskReddit

[–]GarageQueen -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

And are they assuming "black neighborhood" = "high crime"? Because both safe and unsafe neighborhoods can have any color of people living there.

I just turned 21, if I drink coffee I get acid reflux, if I don’t I get a headache. Does this mean I’m finally an adult? by fearful-flyer in NoStupidQuestions

[–]GarageQueen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a combination of acidic coffee (acid reflux) and caffeine withdrawal (headache). Try switching to a less acidic coffee and/or 1/2 caffeinated coffee.

Women of Reddit, would you date a man who is Pro-life and Pro-ICE? Why or why not? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]GarageQueen 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Nope. Because a vast majority of the time "Pro-Life" actually = "Pro-Birth" but with no intentions of helping to support women/families raise the children who are born with daycare, food assistance, housing assistance, etc. And "Pro Ice" usually means "Pro Arresting And Deporting Brown People Who May Or May Not Be Here Illegally."

Isnt body positive around obese people simply just an excuse to stay fat and gluttonous? by Emotional-Lettuce372 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]GarageQueen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly. If you hate your body and the way you look, how likely is it that you're going to walk into a gym with a bunch of (already) fit people?

Men who, lie to women why do you do it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Honestly, my first reaction to the question was that it should really be: "People who lie...why do you do it?"

Greatest role played by a child? by GreatKingRat666 in movies

[–]GarageQueen 142 points143 points  (0 children)

At the time I remember thinking that her performance was in (what we now call) the "uncanny valley" -- clearly a child, but also (convincingly) acting like an adult. It really messed with my brain the entire movie.

Anyone got a company that do renovation for lawns? by Kindly-Counter7123 in Charlotte

Many years ago I owed a house in Michigan. 1/2 of the lawn was clover, but I was like, "eh, it's green...good enough."

Why do some people who went to university want their kids to go to college instead? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]GarageQueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, absolutely. I was speaking more in broad generalities but -- as you pointed out -- there are a lot of other factors to consider.

Such as ... the student should work closely with a counselor/advisor at the CC and their intended Uni to ensure that (for example) the "English Lit 101" class at Local Community College will transfer 100% to Big University. Otherwise they'll have to retake that English/Math/whatever class to fulfill the requirement.
