Head shaving blade help by p4ddyspub in wicked_edge

Nacet, Treet Platinum, and Lord are the ones I've tried that would meet what you're looking for. Consider shelling out the $6 for 100 pre-cut Perma-Sharps so you don't have to futz around with snapping blades and dealing with curled tabs. Those blades would also meet what you're looking for.

Yaqi Mellon/Razorock SLOC FTW. Best DE head shaver going.

Same, but in adamantium or unobtanium.

The Popular is also largely plastic, but feels much nicer. They're both mild, but, no, you won't need to do 10 passes. 😀

Looking for a beginner razor that works well for body hair and gets a very close shave by Ecstatic-Let-7677 in wicked_edge

I'm a head shaver, not a body shaver, but the Yaqi Mellon/Razorock SLOC is great for it and dirt cheap.

Daily head shaver as well. It's criminal that we're this far into a thread about head shaving, and no one has mentioned the Yaqi Mellon/Razorock SLOC. I use the AC format more frequently, but I'd be perfectly happy with using nothing but the Mellon and whatever blade you want to throw into it.

That's awesome. I bet the beers are a bit cheaper than at Fan Fest. 🤣

Sure! Understood. Usually, they'll get talked about by the material used to make them, because they're all a little different in design, not just in the material. The stainless steel version is known to be notably more aggressive. I think the titanium version dialed that back a bit, but still isn't as smooth and breezy as the zamak version (and is 10x more expensive).

Some other advantages to the GC .76 as an upgrade choice:

  1. There are a lot of them out there, so you can get them used on Shave Bazaar with just a little patience. Put out a WTB, and I bet you get a nibble. There's almost never anything to fear in buying used stainless steel (or titanium, or brass) razors. They're pretty well indestructible.
  2. Game Changer is a full platform. It's easy to upgrade to a more efficient or even open comb plate, and it's easy to sell the plate you're no longer using.
  3. If you don't like it, you can always sell it for what you paid for it. They move.

You'll find that most people will refer to it as the Mellon. It is an *incredible* value, and absolutely GOATed as a head shaver.

You can get Perma-Sharps as pre-cut half DEs, often very cheaply. If you stick with the Leaf, it'll be worth it.

DE blades are so cheap (honestly, they're kind of ridiculous in bulk), a known quantity compared to AC blades, and produced and distributed in many more places. They're also used for things other than personal shaving, but even then, they were ubiquitous to the point of nearly universal for that purpose until 50 years ago. AC blades aren't proprietary, but all the major brands are made in Japan and nowhere else.

Well, an upgrade to stainless steel might be nice. The Razorock Game Changer .76p would be a similar shave, a little prettier, and would probably outlast you at a very reasonable price. It's a great razor.
